The QAnon Conspiracy Theory and the Assessment of Its Believers
Pizzagate and its progeny QAnon are two conspiracy theories with a growing number of believers worldwide. QAnon has entered mainstream conservative politics, with followers identifying themselves with posters and t-shirts at rallies for former President Tr...
Sometimes I can feel other people's energy when I'm talking to them, whether in person, or by phone, like I can "feel" them saying inside "I need to go", or can feel their puzzlement, or fear.
A number of years ago, during Covid time period, I was talking to a psychologist due to the amount of chaos going on in my life (by phone). I mentioned that the only thing keeping me sane was following Q and reading the Q postings. It seemed geared towards autists who did deep research on the posts. It kept me engaged, and I laughed out loud frequently. I immediately felt a tremendous fear coming from her. So strong that I never mentioned Q again. Wondered if all the psych docs had gotten word that the Q folks are bad or mentally ill and needed reported somehow. Never mentioned Q to her again, and to this day don't know why she had such a strong fear reaction at the mention of Q.
In that same time period I briefly saw a woman who also seemed wacky on the topic. My view was (and is) to consider all theories, regardless of source. Q has been an interesting mixed bag, with lots of failed predictions, numerology, other issues. Yet, the core idea is sound: that Trump and his people have secret plans and abilities. However, to her, this was a visceral threat to her overall politics. Like it was the distilled essence of her enemy. She insisted I “denounce” the theory, and I wouldn’t.
Then came Trump 47 and BOOM! DOGE grabs sysadmin power over the Deep State comm and record systems. It was the political equivalent of a decapitation strike. Now, years later, various Q things are happening….

Change my mind.

The paper is very social science scholarly but filled with bias. His references are things like the Daily Beast and Business Insider. It would be easy to do the equivalent with TDS, but I doubt if the “respectable” journals would publish it.
I’m surprised he didn’t reference Wikipedia and snopes.
Competency to Stand Trial Evaluations
QAnon theorists may claim that they are not beholden to the U.S. government or decry their criminal proceedings proceedings as falsified or a sham. Similarly, they may refuse to meet with an attorney or a consulting forensic expert for any number of seemingly strange reasons. As a result, the person’s fitness to stand trial may be questioned. In such cases the forensic psychiatrist will need to assess for the presence of any underlying mental illness and determine whether the disorder affects the individual’s ability to understand the criminal proceedings or to work with an attorney. If the individual will not meet for an assessment, collateral accounts of the individual’s beliefs, behaviors, and general functioning obtained from correctional mental health providers, the patient’s attorney, and collateral contacts from the community will likely clarify the presence or absence of a psychiatric disorder. If the concerns raised by the attorney or judge are found to be secondary to conspiracy theorizing, then any refusal to participate in legal proceedings would likely be considered volitional and fail to render the conspiracist incompetent to stand trial.
Sounds like they don't want certain things being on the record.
Lovely.
Anatomy of a wrap up smear:
THE PSYOP MECHANISM REVEALED ∙ Step 1: Elite criminal network operates (Epstein, trafficking, blackmail) ∙ Step 2: Someone documents the evidence publicly ∙ Step 3: Media coordinates “baseless claims” / “conspiracy theory” language ∙ Step 4: Medical establishment publishes “diagnostic criteria” for believers ∙ Step 5: Courts cite medical literature to dismiss testimony/evidence ∙ Step 6: Network continues operation, protected by classification system
Isn't there anything these clowns wouldn't patholgise? They did try to pathologise happiness a few years ago but that got nowhere.
"We have an epidemic of psychiatry" Thomas Szasz
Or as Richard Bandler co founder of NLP said Psycho The Rapist. There’s what he called psychotherapists.
When you can’t prove them wrong time to fire up the gaslights to write your clinical diagnostic manual in the very dark hole of cognitive dissonance or collusion I guess. -Also pompous ass said what?
Criminal Recidivism and Violence Risk Assessment
The forensic evaluator may be asked to comment on a QAnon theorist’s risk for criminal recidivism or violence if released to the community. In its May 2019 report, the FBI specifically addressed the concern that conspiracy theorizing may directly motivate violent behavior. It noted:The FBI considered the alternative hypothesis that domestic extremists likely turn to violence only as a result of an underlying extremist ideology (such as militia extremism or white racially motivated violent extremism), whereas conspiracy beliefs held by such extremists do not play a role in their mobilization to violence. The FBI deemed this alternative to be less likely because these conspiracy beliefs have motivated, at least in part, several high profile violent acts, or have influenced the perpetrators—to the extent that they attributed their actions to their conspiratorial beliefs before or after their arrests (Ref. 1, p 5).
