Kinda reminds me of the TSA and all the bs we have to put up with...
And we pay tax for the privilege. $5.60 per seat per departure to cover security directly. Some amount of a domestic fare is the 7.5% tax, and fees for the airport and fuel taxes are covered by the base fare...
I once read an article someone wrote after his research that listed a page and a half of all the taxes we pay in the US. The very reason Americans left England. Taxation without repression. Please forgive the spelling

Correct. You have to opt-in and waive all Constitutional rights when "signing" to purchase an airline ticket in order for TSA to be allowed to "break the law". This is why cash purchase is not permitted. "Travel fees and taxes" were added to justify "credit card only purchases" since that also breaks the law and is also blatantly unconstitutional.
Compelled fraud by DHS/FAA forcing airlines to either comply or not operate. Similar to IRS compelled fraud on corps forcing W-4 "withholding" on indiv. to pay the corps payroll taxes for corps (section2 tax code ref).
