Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

2Corinthians 4:7-10.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our bodies.

Mahdi Messianic figure in Islamic eschatology
Nature of the Treaty: With Whom Is It Made? The treaty is described not as being directly with the "State of Israel," but rather with the Romans—a symbolic term traditionally interpreted as referring to Western or Christian nations. However, due to geopolitical context and theological interpretations, many contemporary scholars associate this with alliances involving the West and the Middle East, including Jewish communities or the modern state of Israel.
Some interpretations suggest that a Jewish mediator from the lineage of Aaron will facilitate this agreement, which adds complexity to the understanding of interfaith dynamics in end-times Islamic eschatology.
Importantly, Jerusalem plays a central role in these prophecies. The Mahdi is expected to establish his leadership there, and the treaty period precedes major conflicts, including the return of Jesus (Isa) and the eventual defeat of oppressive forces.
Mahdi and the Seven-Year Treaty in Islamic Eschatology According to various Islamic hadith sources, the Mahdi is associated with a seven-year period of peace, often interpreted as a treaty or era of stability during his reign. While the term "Israel" as the modern state does not appear in classical hadith texts—since they predate its establishment—the concept of a future peace agreement involving the "Romans" (understood by many scholars as representing the West or Christian powers) and mediated through a Jewish figure from the lineage of Aaron is widely discussed.
A key narration attributed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) states:
“There will be four peace agreements between you and the Romans. The fourth will be mediated through a person who will be from the progeny of Hazrat Aaron (the brother of Moses) and will be upheld for seven years.” — Tabarani, as cited in multiple theological sources
This hadith is referenced across several search results and forms the basis for the belief that the Mahdi’s era will coincide with this final seven-year covenant.
Mahdi treaty with Romans in Islam
Duration and Significance of the Seven-Year Period The seven-year duration is consistently mentioned in hadith literature as the length of the Mahdi’s rule or the period of peace under his leadership. For example:
“He will fill the earth with justice and equity as it was filled with oppression and tyranny, and he will rule for seven years.” — Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 31
Another narration states:
“The Mahdi will lead for seven years. He will then die and Muslims will offer his funeral prayer.” — Sunan Abī Dāwūd
This seven-year period is seen as a time of global justice, Islamic revival, and military consolidation, culminating in major eschatological events such as the descent of Jesus (Isa), who will support the Mahdi and later assume leadership after his death.
Mahdi seven year rule in hadith
Contrast with Christian Interpretations Some Christian commentators, such as Dr. John MacArthur, have drawn parallels between the Islamic Mahdi and the Biblical Antichrist, particularly regarding a seven-year covenant mentioned in Daniel 9:27 and Revelation 13. They argue that the Mahdi’s seven-year treaty mirrors the Antichrist’s covenant with "the Jews."
However, Islamic theology rejects this identification. The Mahdi is viewed as a righteous leader, not a deceiver. Moreover, while both traditions speak of a seven-year period, the nature and outcome differ significantly:
In Christian eschatology, the Antichrist breaks the covenant halfway (after 3.5 years), leading to a great tribulation. In Islamic tradition, the seven-year peace is upheld until its completion, after which conflict resumes—often triggered by the violation of the treaty by external forces (e.g., Western Christian armies). Thus, the parallel is theological speculation, not doctrinal consensus.
Islamic view of the Mahdi vs Antichrist
Conclusion Yes, hadith literature does indicate that the Mahdi will be associated with a seven-year period of peace, often described as a treaty between Muslims and the Romans (the West), mediated by a Jewish figure from the lineage of Aaron. While the modern State of Israel is not explicitly named, many contemporary interpretations link this prophecy to future geopolitical developments involving Israel and the broader Middle East.
The Mahdi’s rule during this time is expected to bring global justice and Islamic dominance, preceding the return of Jesus and final battles. This seven-year era is distinct from the Christian Antichrist narrative, both in intent and outcome.

I know a lot of you here oppose "boots on the ground" in Iran.
Some even got pissed when I alluded to it last week.
Relax. It's going to be ok.
It's not the only seemingly bad event on the horizon.
But after 3-4 days of utter despair, that too will be ok.
Long Live The King.
Biblical.
The difference is Trump is in it to end it and there are still those on this board that can’t seem to figure that out.
Yeah... yeah you can say that again.
question, I have been watching a little bit of “Find Me in Paris” a creative time traveler series. In trying to understand to John Titor, I some things are amazing and then I think I perceive some anomalies or things that didn’t happen / turn out as things were foretold. And then sometimes forewarnings are meant to give people opportunities to change their ways & prevent disasters. Is this just the nature of time traveler and that he would not be the only individual person acting upon each timeline and activity throughout history?
