I believe this is a misleading X post, because Volkswagen is the SECOND LARGEST CAR MANUFACTURER ON EARTH.
It might be planning to change some of its plants over to making missiles, but I can't believe it's going to "switch from the automotive business to the missile defense business."
If that IS true, this is gonna be a HUGE story.
Brave AI:
Based on the most recent data available for 2023, the top 5 automobile manufacturers by volume are:
Toyota: 10,307,395 units sold
Volkswagen Group: 9,239,575 units sold
Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai-Kia): 7,302,451 units sold
2023? OK. But VW´s (VW, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, SEAT, Bentley, Lamborghini) strength was building affordable cars for average people. Those were NOT EV´s! You must keep in mind that VW is heavily politically "influenced" (The state of Lower Saxony holds 20 percent of the common stock in Volkswagen AG. This stake is secured by the (VWGmbHÜG), which grants the state a veto right over important corporate decisions, particularly regarding plant locations or amendments to the articles of association. BRAVE) and was forced to largely abandon the production of Gasoline-powered cars to EV production. There´s a green "car hater" member of Board of Supervisors.
VW, as a car manufacturer, is headed for bankruptcy. Same for all of our car manufacturers.
Volkswagen has been in major financial trouble for a while. I’d imagine what’s really happening is they’re pivoting some factories towards Defense Production. Given the broader difficulties of the automotive sector as a whole at the moment. Arms and Armor tend to sell decently well even in peacetime. Makes logical sense
Volkswagen is in talks with the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems for a deal that would change production at one of the German group’s factories from cars to missile defense.
Тhe two companies intend to convert a plant in Osnabrueck that is currently at risk of closing. The facility would produce components for the Iron Dome air defense system owned by the Israeli state group, according to Financial Times on March 24.

I can absolutely give you that. The title could use some work.
Not your fault, of course: that's the title the X post used.
