Suggestion: develop unique or individual perspective on any of the topics that come up, take your time to articulate your views, then post that. i.e. analysis and/or theorizing are important parts of research, and can be done at one's own pace, while still being relevant because they expand the overall view of the board, as it were.
PS. Congrats on the toddler, and the life. That is where the real work is. It's the reason that makes everything else is important.
