Major online Bible sites have been hacked.
James Bible online: https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org has been hacked but the .me version still works: https://www.kingjamesbible.me
Biblehub: https://biblehub.com has been hacked
Are there any other 'free' online sources that are really good and easily navigable?
My old fashioned paper Bible can never be hacked.
I understand, but my OLD fashioned eyes need the enlarge print feature. If I read Bible text from a book for 1/2 hour my eyes are worthless for focusing on anything for hours.
I also have a large print edition that belonged to my mother.
You can also get the entire KJV Bible in text files from Project Gutenberg. You can pull them up in Notepad on your computer and make the text as large as you wish. I have a 43" monitor for my desktop computer, so I can make anything super large and easy to read. I could never read much on a phone, and even my Kindle Fire is a bit small for reading sometimes.
True. However some here on this site promote the fallacy that Scripture has already been tainted by passage removal by (insert favorite group here) to obscure the real truth.🙄 The original source material is all available to refute this idiocy thankfully.
double doots! Agree.
Biblegateway.com
https://www.biblegateway.com/
https://www.blueletterbible.com
This one also has an app
On this topic, beware of Bible apps on your phones. They are near the top of the list of apps that are intrusive and will cross app track and some have been accused of using microphone and camera.
User agreements are long and boring but worth a skim through to make sure you aren't agreeing to things you're not willing to put up with.
Source: Trust me Bro! I'll see if I can find an article about it.
Edit - every article I can find is from 2015-2019, maybe they have cleaned them up since then. I don't have one on my phone so I really don't worry about it.
I remember a few years ago https://www.biblegateway.com was having issues. People were complaining about passages omitted, or not reading correctly so I have avoided that one completely since then. I have no idea if the issues still persist.
I do not enroll/subscribe to any online Bible sites. Any more, when any web site pops up with captcha's or cookies I just click out of there.
I am unable to reply to comments below for some reason. Do I have the bug?
I wanted to say that Biblegateway.com is not as intuitive as the other two, but otherwise fine.
What do you mean "hacked"?
along the top of https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org there is this message:
"to recover your files, kindly send 0.1 BTC to bc1q9nh4revv6yqhj2gc5usncrpsfnh7ypwr9h0sp2 and tweet ty15b6TOTuBuzUhfypJeagHl4e2sAs26, then we will help u <3"
At the top of https://biblehub.com in really big letters it stated "HACKED" and then gave the hackers tag line. Now the site can't even be reached.
When you traveled to the links did you not get this message?
Biblehub works fine for me, although I had never visited it before. I only use online sources when I don't know the cite and want to find a particular verse by content. I use a hardcopy Bible for reading and looking up verses that I have the citation for.
You can always download the text files of the KJV Bible from Project Gutenberg.
YouVersion’s Bible.com seems unaffected.
I mostly use, https://www.purebiblesearch.com/ But have a few others if you are still interested.
Banner currently across the top of the KJV bible online site:
"Dear KJV Reading Community: this is a temporary emergency website. Hackers attempted to gain control of the site and hold it for ransom. Please pray for them and for all services to be restored. May God bless you! KJBO"
