We're rocking and rolling up in Northern Nevada, too. We had a 5.7 over two weeks ago and are constantly getting aftershocks. Some as big as 4.0
This morning we had a 5.2 with more aftershocks.
Epicenter is near NAS Fallon.
Looks like the USGS upgraded that quake last night near Silver Springs. At first it was coming in at 4.7. It rattled things pretty good where I was in Reno. The moment tensor fault plane solution from last night shows the same profile as the Alamo quake, a strike-slip fault plane, and typical for the seismicity of the Basin and Range area.
It was clear by the moment tensor solution that the Alamo quake was a strike slip fault and not an explosion which would show up as isotropic due to an explosion's compression and tensile forces. The seismic record also doesn't indicate anything suspicious. Anything happening near Area 51 always gets people's imaginations going. None of the data I looked at indicates anything but a normal quake profile.
No spoilers! AJ and Hecklefish don’t reveal the ghost story is a hoax until the episode is almost over. Relocate your sensible comment to the end of the thread please…,
Yep.. hearing this daily from my wild horse advocate friends in your area. It made me research the potential effects of quakes under Tahoe and the overflow path of water down to catch basin Pyramind Lake etc.
Because Tahoe is at very high point and is adjacent to fault lines. You stay safe, fren, and God bless.

Be careful DA! Kinda curious the Naval Air Station is the Epicenter?? 🤔
The epicenter is just west of NAS Fallon but the naval air station is the closest populated area. Remember, our state is just one big desert.
... with a lot of big mountains.
Yes...
Nothing unusual at NAS Fallon that I know of. It is where Top Gun is now (Fighter Weapons School).
We do underground nuke testing in Yucca Flats which is not that far from Area 51. But it is quite a ways from Fallon. And we don’t do multiples.
Why was the FWS moved there?
believe it was moved there in the 90's as part of base realignment. NAS Miramar (former location) was turned over to the Marines.
Woke us up out in Dayton this morning!

I can confirm this.
