In order to induce cultural amnesia, that's why. The team behind (controlled) disclosure wants to work with a clean slate. In order to do that they need to drop the pop culture baggage attached to the term UFO. And - this is critical - to reset the clock. Any information, any footage prior to the blurry Navy "tic-tac" video is treated as non-existent. The work of UFO historians such as Richard Dolan is not welcome in this group's agenda.
I operate from the viewpoint that there is and has been a behind-the-scenes battle over UFO information, which has in recent years spilled out into public awareness. Within the United States alone there are no fewer than four competing groups.
Group 1. The SOL Foundation group is the driving force behind what has made the mainstream news cycle, TV shows, plus congressional hearings. Central figures include Christopher Mellon, Hal Putoff, Luis Elizondo, Steve Justice, and Leslie Kean. This group evolved out of the To The Stars Academy (TTSA), founded in 2017. The media campaign was launched by Leslie Kean's December 2017 New York Times article "leaking" the tic-tac video. I affiliate this group with the Democrat aligned deep state. They are the protagonists in this story moving the plot forward.
Group 2. Stephen Greer is the tip of the spear of Israeli Intelligence. His UFO Disclosure Press Conference exactly 25 years ago at the National Press Club in DC was a pivotal event in bringing suppressed information to light. Following his career arc convinces me that he is not on our side.
Group 3. The Trump and Q Team. The composition of this team is far less visible. I'm inclined to believe it is aligned to the NSA and Space Force, and with some but not all aerospace contractors. It seems to me they are acting in reaction to the movements of the Christopher Mellon group. The Obama "slip" followed by Trump's reaction is an example. Today's release of files gives some indication of their counter-move strategy.
Group 4. The traditional hard-liners who want to keep everything under total wraps, forever.
Group 1 has published their roadmap by the way. It is found at the 27m15s mark of the lecture The Schumer Amendment & Controlled Disclosure by Karl Nell, delivered two years ago. I'll summarize the phases. Schumer in the title refers to our favorite New York gangsta fella, Chuck Schumer.
Phase 0. To January 2022. Shaping the narrative.
Phase 1. To January 2024. Demonstrate Existence.
Phase 2. To January 2026. Correlate Signatures.
Phase 3. To October 2030. Characterize Performance.
Phase 4. To October 2034. Determine Nature.
Phase 5. Indefinite. Engagement.
Strategic Endstate
o Proper oversight restored
o Catastrophic disclosure avoided
o Scientific understanding advanced
My take on it is that they think the truth cannot continue to be contained. They are attempting to get ahead of it through a 20-year long controlled disclosure. They have plans to move classified technology into the public domain while maintaining control. And make oodles of money. Expect to see Skunkworks-like projects move to the acknowledged military industrial complex. (If they get their way.)
Jesse Michaels does a podcast about UFOs. He does an interview with a religious professor named Diana Pasulka that wrote a book about someone with the highest clearance of space force named Tim E Taylor (he also wrote a book called Launch Fever) where they talk about being part of a secret time traveler group out of Nassau. This Tim guy also met with Chris Bledsoe and both Tim and Dianna were invited to the Vatican archive. Chris said he didn't go with him but Chris has a ufo that follows him arround. He said people came out of the ufo and gave him an object. A being came out of the object that looked like a celestial cow and when he turned arround it was a woman. She said her name was Sophia or hathor. His story is wild. I do not know what to make of all this.
Thank you for that link. I've not seen it. I watch some Jesse Michaels podcasts but not all. His interviews are long and there are only so many waking hours in the day. I do appreciate his willingness to go beyond "how did it make you feel?" type questions and get into details. His recent interview with Bob Lazar is my favorite of all of the interviews Lazar has given.
I am aware of the Chris Bledsoe story. His is interesting for being so far outside the norm. The majority of encounters tell a familiar plot line involving the short and tall greys. Without having better words to describe it, Bledsoe's story amounts to "visited by angels". The outlier encounters are intriguing, and impactful in what they imply.
If the inherent complexity of this topic were not enough, decades of government obfuscation makes it exceedingly difficult for us regular bears (and bers) to pick through. I come from the vantage point not of an experiencer, but as a former card-carrying ardent skeptic.
I don't know, but maybe some of these objects aren't "flying" per say, but rather they move around in the air using unknown techniques that are simply called phenomena.
It could just be trying to be more accurate by being more vague.
It morphed from aerial phenomena to anamolous phenomena. My understanding is UAP is a catch-all term for paranormal phenomena. UFO is a very specific thing whereas UAP allowed researchers much more room to investigate. Many people who experience an alien/UFO encounter also encounter cryptids or have poltergeist activities after the fact, which is part of the reason for the expansion of scope.
From the beginning, UFOs were unknown and the results of Project Blue Book (Dr. Hynek) showed that 90% of them were simply misidentified natural phenomena. UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) is just a new nameplate for what was mostly phenomena in the first place. Nothing about modern times prevents misidentification of natural phenomena. (Cryptids or poltergeists are not "aerial," so would not logically be included in UAP.)
Why’d they change it from UFO to UAP?

Which is why it's so important that they release it all

I 🩷 your username fren 😂
I think more technical but always kind of thought it was to avoid FOIA on UFO.
Good question. Unidentified balloons?
