And then we have me, a humble meme farmer, tending to my Memes, and looking at the IPO and dipping my toe in. This is the balanced take on this. I don't know what spacex is gonna be like in 5 to 10 years, but the opportunity is strong with this one at a minimum. That said, it has more booms than the us navy has had against Iran when it comes to rockets going poof, so it's a split bid for me.
It's not a cheap start price at all, and I'm using the investment allowance for the month that I have on only the IPO today. If it womp-womps, it won't be great but it won't break my portfolio or savings. However, if it rockets to the moon (pun intended) then a number of minor issues in the middle to long term future might be addressed by having it in the back pocket.
I'll be keeping an eye on it closely today. If it falls low ill hold and buy more at the floor. If it immediately rockets up (doubtful the way I've seen ipos run), then I'll plan accordingly.
I am waiting for the typical spike and pull back. Ignored my rule with Trump Media.

I bought in too because I think that Elon and Spacex are part of a much bigger plan, and even if I'm wrong, it still figures heavily in the future.

I highly suspect this IPO (and others like Anduril) is giving Private Equity a chance to finally cash out before the many funds go bust. Private equity right now is in the middle of a reprising crisis where their portfolios are illiquid and their internal valuation models are way overstating their potential market values. Right now BlackRock, BlackStone and other big funds are seeing a net outflow of funds. Institutions seem to be withdrawing the maximum amount (like 5% to 10% per year), so something is definitely afoot. The news came out around the time we attacked Iran this year. Some interesting timing for sure.
So ya, I'm usually pretty cautious with any IPO's but I assume right now Provate Equity is trying to unload their bags to survive this current oil shock crisis.
My investment history, bought 5000 dollars into Enron---no need to say anything more about that so I took about 30% of my retirement and bought what I thought was gold star stocks in GM and Walmart. Well GM went belly up, restructured and issued more stock in the name of the new company---old shares were worthless so I sold my Walmart and left the market for good!
Too bad most of us have nothing left to invest, and are a paycheck away from losing our homes, or not paying our regular bills. But yet we still have to pay our State and the IRS, that have given billions, if not trillions to illegals and criminals. And there is no clue on if every tax payer is going to get their “stolen diamonds” back!
Yeah, investing isn’t the closest thing on my mind nor does it benefit most of us at this time. 😒

It always bothers me when there's talk about inhabiting other planets etc - when we've already "shitted up this place" pretty good. It's just so trashy, in every sense. Wreck this joint, then move on to the next...rinse and repeat.
So...in the linked post above, Elon talks about inhabiting Mars and how "anyone can go" to build the new society. That selection process is gonna be REAL interesting... because dollars to donuts - YOU ain't going - but you get to pay for it...
