The tweet argues Apple's iPhone kill switch is not a future feature but already operational. Apple and London's Metropolitan Police have quietly shared IMEI numbers of stolen devices for months allowing remote disabling with no reactivation possible without the owner's password. Results include stolen iPhone reactivations falling from 80% to under 20% and a 45.8% drop in phone thefts in Westminster equaling 14,000 fewer incidents in one year. The upcoming global rollout simply makes this the default everywhere. The author highlights that the same live scalable infrastructure lets law enforcement submit device lists for disabling and warns this occurs alongside UK government pressure on Apple for device scanning under the Online Safety Act and efforts to weaken encryption like that in Signal. The first stated use case involves stolen phones.
After the iTunes psyop, that was it for me. Never another scrApple product ever again. It's very cult-y... I'd love to see the political breakdown of percentages demtards vs Republicans. I'm sure it's disproportional.
The idea that muh pathwerd is protecting you is laughable... they've got a backdoor to everything baked right into the hardware layer from day 1 - although many are opting for a software variant these days because it's cheaper...surprise!
All these corporations hold all the cards... you could opt out by not buying their products, but that's like a monkey paw in a trap clutching a banana...He ain't letting go... and neither will you. Ooo ooo oo, ah ah ah

Yea this is very old.... been dealing with this in Baltimore for many years. They can track them and then just turn them off and brick the phone at will.
Ya, but what apps do you actually need to do secure communication and the web? Open source Linux phones have at least those apps and all the more secure open source apps to boot. Most apps are web apps now a days anyways so all you really need a a secure web browser and Linux has every web browser. Also, the average user needs to get their shit together if they care more about a phone interface then they do about security. Once they end up in jail for being lazy and not doing their research they will be sorry.
And this is why I use a branch version of android that was geared around the option to disable tracking, and one of a nigh on infinite number of reasons I refuse to ever use an iphone
Thanks to some possible Android stupid new suggestions they are attempting, why am I feeling that in a foreseeable future, Linux Phones may be a possibility?
This is a symptom of a low trust society. We only need tech like this because we allow shit head criminals to run free. My solution is to fill the grand canyon with dead criminal bodies, though most people aren't pissed off enough to agree with that yet.

Why I feel Linux Phones are going to be a strong possibility in soon future?
That would be way cool.
Already here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_open-source_mobile_phones pinephone or librem probably being the best choices.
Better popularize while still things don't get more crappy.

Not a new thing. We do the same through Apple Business Manager and Ivanti MDM
only if you use phones made by big tech.

Most of those phones (as long as you use the right service providers) are very hard to block or trace.
Yes. 99% Iphone, 1% android. Most of those in that link are difficult for the average user to use and have little app support

They were doing this stuff before iphones time
Exactly. I remember doing this with my first Nokia 6150 which was stolen when I was in Paris, 30 years ago?

How long before the kill requests target political dissenters?
