I just don't understand the mindset of people like that. To have that level of senseless hatred in one's heart that leads to actions like this makes no sense to any rational person. I guess that is why it is senseless. They are ruled by hatred and that hate is destructive to whatever it touches. These are very twisted and sick individuals. Let's hope that there is accountability.
Accountability is the only way that we, a civilized society, can deal with these types of people. They have been allowed to thumb their noses and disregard authority and common decency for far too long. There needs to be repercussions for antisocial and uncivilized behavior.
Today, as I was waiting in line at the butchers, a lady hit my shopping cart. She apologized profusely. I told her "I am fine. Don't worry about it. I am not a democrat. I won't hurt you." She gave me a blank stare, then started laughing and said she was also a Republican. I responded, "They've all gone bat shit crazy." A happy run in.
It is truly sad that it has come to this - having to use US troops to protect our national treasures from other lunatic Americans.
The Left doesn't want anything beautiful that POTUS Trump cleaned up...they are repulsive people who hate beauty, cleanliness, patriotism and America.
I hope if they catch anyone doing anything to the monuments, they get prosecuted for defacing them.

I agree that these are sick and twisted individuals. Many of us can't understand this type of mindset, but as we've seen, these people do exist.
I, also, hope that there is accountability and quickly as to prevent more of this type of destruction.
