I'm a Native Floridian. Born and bred. Both family lines have been Native Floridians for generations. It gets downright miserably hot down here during the months of July and August. Every. Freaking. Year. If you live on the coast, you get some reprieve due to the sea breezes. If you live in Central Florida, it feels worse because it's not as breezy, but the actual temps aren't really that much higher than the coastal regions.
What makes the summers worse down here are all the damn transplants from more northern states moving down here causing all the concrete and asphalt overgrowth into areas not meant for human habitation. I'm talking about areas of Florida that have ALWAYS been meant for the swamps and bay hammocks that actually help to keep relative temps down as they fill up with water from the seasonal rains. Concrete and asphalt hold in heat much more efficiently than nature can, which helps to keep the "feels like" temps in the triple digits for weeks at a time. Add to that the heat from auto exhausts, power generation plants and bldgs, etc.
I actually prefer warm weather to cold weather. Most of us who have grown up down here for generations prefer it over the northern climates. It's not for everyone, and it shouldn't be, either.
If any of y'all don't like the heat, stay the fuck out of the kitchen, right? Stay the hell out of the swamp. Stay the hell out of Florida, damn it!!!!

The heat index is supposed to be up to 101 here in northeastern NC, so those numbers in FL seem normal for July. It's only supposed to be in the mid-80s here on Monday, so that's when I'll mow the grass, even though it needs it today. Living in the country means I could let it get rank, and no one would care or bother me.
