Why? They're calling for "legal permanent residents" or US citizens. Not illegals. What is ICE going to be able to do against US citizens or LEGAL permanent residents?
Of course they are, 1) because it's corrupt CA and 2) young non-citizens have the biggest incentive to ignore, allow and/or commit fraud to ensure elections install only those who want non-citizens to enter and remain in the US.
This could be used as a honeypot to round-up deportees; as u/Revodude said, "Send in ICE."
Just a reminder, "noncitizen" doesn't mean illegal.
They're not encouraging noncitizens to vote in federal elections, but to work as poll workers.
I'm not sure why people are getting their panties in a twist over this.
Yeah... okay.
Seems to me they're more qualified to be "Pole Workers" than poll workers...

They’ll earn credit from their local Universities as well. Then they will qualify for grants and scholarships, oh and if they identity as it/they then another round of aid. Each year the Alumni Association contacts me for a donation and I ask if my donation is restricted to a student who is a citizen of the United States? And out comes the DEI bullshit.
Not completely sure how it is in California. But I’ve worked the Polls in my home state. But I doubt it’d be much different.
Working the Polls isn’t a particularly enjoyable experience. Hours are long. You don’t get much out of it. Even if it’s a State that pays poll workers. You also often come away from it with even less faith in the intelligence of the average voter and the system then you went in with. Seriously it’s ridiculously easy to play the system to get unpopular legislation passed via ballot measures.
I’d imagine at this point they’re probably also struggling to turn out enough poll workers for both major parties. As the Elderly Folks who often made up the reliable core are starting to die off or be rendered medically incapable of working the polls. And the younger are increasingly less and less interested in participating in a system they don’t see as working anymore.
And since it’s California and every solution they have is either toss money or illegals at it. Logically they’re tossing illegals at it.
