In 1983, 2/3rds of the UK population identified as Christian.
By 2018, that dropped to only 1/3rd of UK population being Christian.
Today, it's probably less than 1/4th identifying as Christian.
The average Briton rarely attend church. Only about 2% to 3% of the UK population attends Christian services weekly, with about 2% to 4% attending irregularly and 7% goes to church once per year.
For the Church of England, about 871,000 people attend a service in a typical week, 1.2 million at Easter, and 2.4 million at Christmas. That is out of a UK population of 70 MILLION. The Church of England claims attendance is higher (of course they do), but at best the weekly attendance is only 3% to 4% of the population even using their highest figures.
There are entire communities in Britain that are either Hindu or Muslim. With 2/3rds of the nation not even self-identifying as Christian... can we REALLY call the UK a Christian nation?
I will admit that, if I faced the choice of attending the Church of England services... or staying home and praying to God on my own.... I wouldn't attend that church either.
Why would I ever walk into a government sanctioned church, particularly when the government officials in charge of what that church teaches are rife with pedophiles, communists and LGBTQ and Islam supporters? Why would I pollute myself by walking into a cathedral teaching their socialist nonsense?
I live in SE England and have stopped church attendance, one church was obviously run by the vicars feminist wife, another was full of very snotty and haughty people and in another the vicar never talked to anyone at all and the congregation all watched each other quite surreptitiously.
You should try attending Christian church in Texas. Our church (and most of them do) has electric and acoustic guitars, drums, organ music, singing and the pastors are really nice. They present information from the bible, but also show the images of the biblical area on big screens so everyone can understand the context of the bible teaching and what was happening at the time.
The church is very involved in the community, the pastors love to donate money to help people in our community and make it a practice once per week to donate $thousands to special causes in our area... everyone contributes something to help make the worship service better. It's certainly not boring. In fact, the worship services are broadcast on You-Tube every week, as are a LOT of the services in this area for people who can't attend.
Our church has both formal and informal services, depending on what suits people best. The informal one has the free coffee, doughnut and danish bar, people are more relaxed and it's a bit more energetic than the other service. It's anything but boring, and the worship is genuine... not a preacher droning on putting himself to sleep, and not some dry sermon where nobody is listening.
You've got to come to Texas some time and try attending a local church or two. We have all sorts of different types and you'll find the one that fits you best. I don't feel comfortable with some Christian or Catholic churches, but others just feel like family. The main thing is that they all offer something different. There are churches in the U.S. that are held outdoors on a hill overlooking the lake or mountains. There are churches that have cathedrals... and there are others that are in converted wooden barns. :>)

Like Monster Trucks... then visit for Monster Jam at the Toyota Center. .like BBQ and Rodeo, then the Pasadena Tx BBQ Cookoff and Rodeo is coming up in September. I enjoy that more than the Houston Rodeo. Less crowded, more informal. I enjoy the BBQ competition which is a full night long party til morning while the hundreds of teams are nursing their BBQ smokers all night.
Anyway, it's a genuine offer if you want to consider. You might even be interested in visiting a Christian Cowboy Church, total western theme church complete with wagon wheels, hay bales and John Wayne posters.
It's probably the complete opposite of SE England... and Houston is nothing like London.

That is a lovely offer my water carrying fren, its softened my heart a lot. I will have to (very reluctantly) say no, I am 2 years away from my 80th birthday and can't walk 100 yards without stopping for breath. Airports alone would be too much for me.

It was founded on Christian values and principles. It is still by virtue, a Christian Nation.
