We need farm workers but, I’m not in favor of any amnesty for citizenship. Apply the right way, come in the front door, take the test and pass it.
We should enable more of our citizens to work smaller farms. Farm workers is a good job for teens. In Oregon marijuana farming is legal, it is BIG money and the dark side is that traffickers smuggle minors/teens to work the marijuana fields. Cheap, cheap labor who are scared & ignorant. ICE has busted some farms and found teens in the country illegally!

Bring them in as guest workers on government transport and make it clear they travel within a certain radius only. If they disappear, warrant for arrest goes out. Anyone harboring or employing guest workers without government papers is fined severely for first infraction, loses business with subsequent infractions.

No, absolutely not. Make them APPLY every season as GUEST WORKERS, and only if U.S. citizens don’t want the job. No amnesty, no citizenship. Priority should be given to English speaking applicants.
Willing to bet if you looked at the layouts of their districts. It’d largely be Districts where ranching and agriculture hold huge influence. Maybe a smattering of criminal influence hoping to smuggle in more goons and members with it.
I’d also be willing to bet that this is largely being pushed by Ranching and Agricultural groups. Both industries have become heavily dependent on illegal labor. They stand to loose a shitload of money if they need to start competing for legal labor.
It’s basic Math. And in the best interest of their businesses to keep wages low and labor pools high. Much like it’s in the interests of American citizens buckling under the strain of low wages. To shrink the labor pool and force Businesses to start paying better.
