Though this seems more like a case of dropping the formality. As If I recall correctly the guy making that statement has been in power 20+ years at this point.

Honestly, this isn't a bad idea. For too long the left has used elections to claim legitimacy and push the good guys out of power.
Weird. Venezuela didn't need elections either. Cuba didn't need elections.

My first thoughts were if you want to get Trumps full attention immediately, this is one of those ways in which you could do it.
But I also thought this could be one of those Nicholas Maduro / Venezuela situations where it’s all the justification we need to extract him and key personnel for evidence & witness protection.
