Agree. But if my theory is correct, we didn't hear (ironically) "resident" because the compressor brought the output level down to prevent speakers from making 10000 people deaf. Just a theory.
It could also be a pop. Loud "p" sound (plosive) into the mic that causes the compressor to kick in so hard that you can't hear the rest of the word. This is to protect the PA speakers and the eardrums of those listening
