This brings me no comfort at all. The oath I recall taking when sworn in as a law enforcement officer was the oath of office:

I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God. [1]

I have no military background so naturally I sought some preliminary knowledge when I heard “obey president.”

But evidently, there seems to 2 versions - the oath of enlistment placed into effect in 1962 (below) and the oath for commissioned officers (above):

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. [2]

That takes care of army. Few .mil for the marines came up on 1st page of search results, but here’s what I found from an article[3]:

Both officers and enlisted service members swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, but in the Oath of Enlistment, service members swear they will “obey the orders of the president of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over [them], according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Officers, especially at higher ranks, have a unique position of authority and influence within the organization that could be taken advantage of for political gain. Swearing loyalty to the Constitution instead of the president or any other person means that officials cannot manipulate officers in order to gain control over the military and become dictators. The intent is to ensure our military fights in defense of the people and their way of life instead of being misused for political gain. Article 90 of the UCMJ allows for legal disobedience of unlawful orders for both enlisted and officers. The officer’s oath acts as another safeguard against power corruption by not swearing obedience to the president or other officials, but rather to the Constitution.

Whew! So the enlisted swears obedience to the president but can disobey ‘unlawful orders’ without fear of reprimand! Finally some ease - until I came across a Navy memo to comply with Biden’s paranoid demands [4]:

As public servants, we took an oath to the Constitution and we will not tolerate those who participate in actions that go against the fundamental principles of the oath we share, particularly actions associated with extremist or dissident ideologies.

Damn it. There goes my ease! Maybe it’s just optics... Surely our military can recognize who the fucking domestic terrorists are, right? I skimmed the paper below, but can I even trust it???

OATH OF OFFICE: CAN THE MILITARY DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION AGAINST DOMESTIC ENEMIES? Thomas G. Sadlo, Colonel, USAF [5]

Sorry pedes, no offense but I simply cannot trust an anon when it comes to getting an answer to my question. Not when I’m surrounded by mil vets... I need confidence that whatever answer I receive isn’t being ‘fed’ to me, if that makes sense, lol.

Fake anons are easy to spot, aren’t they? I mean... these would be people who don’t conceal their identity, but identify as an anonymous individual, right?

I just came from twatter where somebody with a blue check mark gave a shout out to fellow anons, lol.

Hell... can’t be that simple so maybe it went right over my head, lol.

? Gas tax alone isn’t enough? I won’t be surprised if the plan leads to taxing pedestrians & cyclists. ?

It’s getting beyond comical.

Well good for you! We’re all entitled to believe what we want to believe. And you responded to ME, lol. You didn’t have to inject yourself, you did because of your own prejudices which prevent you from thinking with an open mind. These ‘faithful muslims’ as you call them, are not the majority and they don’t discriminate on who they kill! They killing and terrorizing peaceful muslims throughout the middle east still today.

Islam isn’t the only religion with a bazillion different sects/denominations that have different schools of thought/laws, you know. I think christianity has the most, at around 3k? And each believe theirs is the truth. And of course, very few willing to admit the role of violence in their religion’s past, let alone in the present.

But WHAT DOES IT MATTER that some people choose x, y or z religion?! The ONLY people who this matters to - are religious people! Like I said - and I’ll say it again: RELIGION DIVIDES.

I should’ve known better than to reply to your simple and idiotic comment. But you got me!!! You successfully trolled my ass! ? CONGRATS!

Actually Jesus never claimed to be god ?

The passage you quoted is one that christians tend to ignore because he answered affirmative to being a messiah - NOT god! According to the gospels, Jesus said that he’d be with the people until the end of the age (Pisces). He even taught that Moses was also a messenger of god - Moses was the messiah in the age of Aries; he led people out of the age of Taurus (recall they were still worshiping the golden calf). When asked by his disciples about the next passover (transition to a new age), Jesus said that we’ll know when we ‘see’ the water bearer (Aquarius). It makes sense why in the creation story in Genesis, god told us to use the stars as signs. If we look up into the night sky, we can literally ‘see’ these signs. There’s much more than that, but this should give you a starting point to seek further knowledge.

Also, Jesus was accused of blasphemy because he taught that god is within all of us, reminding the people that even their scripture said ‘ye are gods.’ Another point christians don’t want to discuss. The argument I hear is that the Old Testament/covenant was superseded by the new testament. Of course, I don’t understand how that conclusion is reached because Jesus said that he came to fulfill the scriptures - not to destroy it. He even warned them not to change a damn thing it their scriptures! LOL Of course people eventually did anyway... driven by good old fashioned politics. Christians know this but this is justified because god uses men ?

Lastly, Jesus didn’t become a ‘deity’ until about 300 years later when Paul (who actually admitted that he tricked people into believing it) claimed that Jesus came to him - it’s where the whole trinity (father, son, holy spirit is one in the same) lie came into existence. This is the foundation of the christian belief system - it’s why Paul is regarded as the father of christianity. Paul’s teachings are completely different from Jesus’ and in most cases, are completely contradictory from Jesus’ teachings.

Research the contradictions from an unbiased, scholarly perspective.

Unfortunately christians seek answers from other christian sources - textbook confirmation bias. And they’re forbidden from studying other ancient religious texts, so only a few come to recognize the deception. The fact of the matter is - it makes no difference which of the ancient religious texts are referenced... at their core - they’re all teaching the same knowledge! The stories are simply told so that they makes sense to the people of those times/cultures. The only religious text that deviates from all the others are the teachings from the books of Paul’s school of thought (almost all of the New Testament books). Learn recommend you for yourself - christianity prevents us from experiencing god. If they’d listen to Jesus’ teachings instead of Paul’s - they’ll learn about the Tree of Life, they’d understand that we’re not given a soul/spirit, we actually are living souls (spiritual beings, just like it says in Genesis! They pick and choose specific passages from the gospels that to them, confirms Paul’s teachings, giving little weight or completely ignoring those that will lead them to the truth about who they are. Jesus taught to “know thyself” for a reason

Interesting... I’ve never needed to apply for any of these programs, but I know people who are on them, blacks & whites. I’m in one of the deep southern states (SC) and the way the welfare/housing/foodstamp programs work here is based on income. It just so happens that blacks tend to earn less, so of course they get more ‘benefits.’

These programs aren’t designed to help people get out of poverty... they’re designed to keep them there.

  • story from personal experience - I say that because I’ve had the pleasure of being a police officer (for almost a decade) and worked in some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. I actually played a major role in standing up their neighborhood resource officer program (part of the community policing initiative). Anyhoo, the couple of years I was a neighborhood officer, I got to know the people. There are some completely content just living off of these programs, but then you have a few who want more so they work to get themselves out of it. It’s difficult because the moment they get a job making even slightly more than the min wage, their benefits decrease so much that it literally makes no sense to continue working.

There was a single mom I met during her last year at a community college. Her and I were the same age (mid 20s), both in college (I was in grad school) so we could relate; and as a black female, I inspired her. All she wanted was a better life for her 2 sons. After she got her associates degree, she landed an entry level 30k a year job - she was on her way! Unfortunately after a couple months of working she realized she couldn’t make it and got depressed. It was awful. Obviously she had no help from family, but her subsidized rent increased almost to full market cost, her foodstamp went down to $20 a month, and she no longer got the couple hundred dollar a month welfare check. I tried to let her know things would get better... but in this aspect we couldn’t relate. My cop boyfriend (now my hubbie) lived with me, we had no children, plus I was buying a townhouse (basically a 2-story apartment, lol). She was paying more for rent than I was on my mortgage! Not to mention, utility rates are higher in certain zones (poorer) so her electric bill cost more than all my utilities combined! I don’t know whatever happened of her (I was reassigned to another area across the city... but occasionally I do think of her, her sons actually, who would be young men now. When I see a hoodlum’s mugshot in our local paper that I recognize from my days policing the city’s ghettos, I’m not surprised. Every familiar face I can’t specifically place, I think of her sons.

  • end of story -

All that to say... the saying “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer” is true. Of course, I’m no where near rich, but I bring home 6figs by myself (not to mention hubby’s income) so we live comfortable, as some would say. We’ve mortgaged a 5br cookie cutter house in suburia, which is less expensive than the rent of a descent 2br apartment in the city. Our utilities are so freaking low compared to what lower class areas pay the unfairness of it makes me ill. I really don’t know how people survive nowadays with the cost of everything.

The program is the latest experiment with a "guaranteed income," the idea that giving low-income individuals a regular, monthly stipend helps ease the stresses of poverty and results in better health and upward economic mobility.

We have designed this demonstration project to add to the body of evidence, and to begin this relentless campaign to adopt a guaranteed income federally

If you’re familiar with their history of using blacks in their federal social experiments - you’ll realize that once this becomes a federal program, it’ll be open to all races.

Race isn’t even the real issue with this program - it becoming federal is! Just like their housing, welfare and foodstamp programs - this too is being implemented to ensure dependency on government assistance. People are less likely to rebel if they ‘need’ the government to survive.

And unfortunately, just like with their other programs I mentioned - once you sign up and accept it - they make it damn near impossible for the average person to get out of the system. They’re promoted as temporary assistance programs, but in reality they’re traps! And they don’t give a shit about the race of the people who get caught up in it.

Easy to guess who’s behind these projects. You should look into it... pretty interesting how they deliberately destroyed black families just to see what would happen in select cities. After several years and a ‘successful’ outcome, they implemented across the country. And there’s no discrimination on who they trap.

Let me guess, christian, right? ?

Just taking a wild guess based on my personal experiences with people of different religious beliefs, coupled with my knowledge of various religions - christianity is the only religion who condemns people based solely on their belief. Even each other!

You probably still believe the news, don’t you? Or you selectively choose what you want based on information you got from others, maybe? Just guessing since you evidently believe the media’s sensationalized views of a small percentage of muslims, characterizing all as violent extremists. In reality, they do NOT represent the majority of muslim people. That’s prejudice, if you didn’t realize.

Just like christianity, there are several sects/denominations of Islam - each with its own doctrine, theology and school of thought and law. To say a “radical muslim is faithful muslim” is essentially equivalent to calling a baptist a catholic. Or a catholic a protestant.

The majority of muslims are peaceful, nonviolent people who honor their god in their lives, just like christians. In fact - christians can learn something from muslims... you see, muslims prefer to let others live as wish and they want peace with others, regardless of religious belief. Christians, on the other hand - prefers that others are saved (i.e., convert to christianity), so much so that non christians and christians from other denominations are repeatedly told how they’re going to burn in hell for eternity - just because they have a different belief! Talk about radical!

Let’s imagine Biden’s administration forces people to ‘identify’ with a religion... christianity would be 2nd to last on my list; satanism being last. I could never identify with a group so blinded by their belief that they can’t even see the hate and discontent they have in their heart for people who don’t prescribe to their specific school of thought, even though they serve the same god!

As a spiritual being who don’t prescribe to any religious system - I have love, compassion, respect for and appreciate the beauty in all of god’s creations.

Just like my hubbie! Can’t be out in the sun for 5 min without sunscreen or he’ll be beet red and peeling like crazy, lol. So pale our friends used to call him the older version of Powder (from the movie years ago lol). I’m actually black (half filipino technically) from the deep south; he’s Texas bred (irish descent as well) who migrated here couple decades ago... but if you can imagine - our relationship itself has redpilled lots of blacks. Evidently he ‘looks like a racist’ LOL. And here we are - almost 17 years later still doing our thing, lol. Oh damn! Thinking about it - y’all might be distant relatives! Ya neva know! Lol

Same here! Religions are simply systems of control created to deceive.

My mom, a local christian ‘celebrity’ with a mass of followers hasn’t accepted me since I was 14 - just because I refused to believe that Jesus is god. She can’t stand me (won’t even attend family events if I’m attending), but says she loves me. Talk about conditional love! Lol

It’s unfortunate people don’t see how religion creates division. Religion has nothing to do with spirituality or one’s belief in god.

2
CrystalClear 2 points ago +4 / -2

Yes, exactly.

I have nothing against any religion (to each it’s own) - but the christian religions doesn’t do the best at promoting love and kindness. Each denomination thinks its version is correct; all the others are deceived by the devil and will go to hell with everyone else who don’t believe as they do.

Eternity... suffering in a fiery hell. Who could even think of such evil?

I do wonder if the framers would have liked/been okay with all of these different religious groups in the USA.

Hmmm... let’s see:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

Translation: They cannot put into place any LAW that will:

a) Force us to prescribe to any particular religion - to include those of the christian faith b) Prevent us from practicing any religion we choose to follow, if any at all

Seems to me they were definitely okay with there being different religious groups in the US. As you pointed out - it is the very FIRST Amendment! I’m sure they were well aware of christianity’s past; during the time people were forced to worship it.
