you're not wrong. definitely a lot of these leaked videos are pushing a narrative they want to put out there. i do believe that they, in coordination with the davos mf's, are trying to amp up th covid hysteria again for many reasons.
but, as an expat living in SH the past four years, i will tell you there is a genuine outrage and frustration with the gov. here, moreso than I've ever witnessed. the city is under strict lockdown, and hundreds of thousands if not millions, are suffering and struggling to provide for themselves and family. There are people protesting at the gates of their apartments. not saying the majority, most of whom would walk into an oven if ordered, but there are more people questioning th gov at least.
definitely be skeptical of the motives for releases and leaks. i am too. the policies here make no sense and a lot of chinese, especially those locked down for weeks and tested over 10 times, are truly frustrated.
how does this help the chinese nationals? maybe not much, but it is one way currently to show the world what they're going through.
cheers, and God bless
there are also tens of thousands of volunteers. in my complex, roughly 400 people, takes about three or four hours. everybody lines up when their building is called, wait in line, flash an id code, then the test takes like 5 seconds--cotton swab in the throat. they also are passing out self-test kits depending on the day, mood, science, whatever.
I'm currently in Shanghai. I can confirm that parts of the city began lockdowns in early march, and on april 1st th city implemented a city wide shutdown. Most stores, including grocery and convenience stores, factories and plants, and schools are shut down. There are camps of people being quarantined at various centers in the city. Everybody has been tested multiple times, upwards of 15-20 times depending where they live. People are struggling here.
I agree that you shouldn't trust a lot of what comes out of here, but it is happening in Shanghai. The reasons are tbd, but i do believe they are trying to start the covid narrative again.
you're absolutely right; these restrictions are a response to a few cases (last i heard was two cases which were found about a mile from where i live), so i think something clandestine is definitely in the works.
Im unvaccinated for covid, so boarding an international flight has not been so easy for me. but now, with current shutdowns, definitely not possible. thanks for your regards, and if its not too much, pray for my family back home in Nebraska. God bless!
I'm in Shanghai, and many apartments in my district are locked down; many people can't leave their complexes. most businesses are shutdown, schools are all closed and planning to do online classes for at least a month, and everybody is prepping for an extended shutdown. Ive heard similar restrictions are happening elsewhere as well. I have the same suspicions as most of you, and also its an election year too.
interesting. the SH government was set to live with the virus with minimal shutdowns, but were ousted by beijing which forced the massive citywide shutdown. SH is often seen as less corrupt and more open to the west then any Chinese city. why would white hats starve millions of innocent people and surpress dissent with violence? the only people ive seen taken out and arrested are the former pols in SH who didnt want to lockdown and innocent citizens protesting the lockdowns.
