Very good point.

And how about Rochdale and Telford etc etc etc etc?

Should get to at least a million by close of play today.

Unfortunately, even if the petition reaches a couple of million it won't make the slightest bit of difference but we have to start making our voices heard.

Agreed.

Personally, I think that Putin is almost at the point where he will come under overwhelming pressure from the likes of Dmitry Medvedev, along with other hard liners, and will feel he has no choice but to act decisively against Ukraine and NATO.

I can only imagine that if myself and the rest of my detachment had somehow been aware of what was being thought, discussed and planned on the other side of the Iron Curtain we would have been absolutely bricking it.

I expect you are correct fren.

My understanding is that there are still comms between the USA/NATO and Russia, at an Intelligence level.

I expect we'll find out in 20-30 years.

In 1983 I was stationed in West (as it was then) Germany and deployed on a CPX (Command Post Exercise) called 'Able Archer'.

A the time, it definitely seemed different to every other exercise I'd been on, for example, my detachment was deployed to Hamlin (Hameln) where I'd never been before.

What I didn't have a clue about until a few years ago was that, apparently, the exercise brought us closer to WWIII than at any time since the Cuban missile crisis.

The reason for this was that the Warsaw Pact were monitoring radio communications and missile movements which led them to firmly believe that NATO were about to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike on the Pact and were ready to 'press the button' first.

The only thing that prevented a disaster were back-channel communications nipping it the bud and resulting in a premature 'endex' which was great for us - straight to the nearest bratty waggon!

Reports coming in saying that another ICBM has been identified heading towards Dnepr.

No explosions reported yet but the whole of Ukraine is under air raid alert.

Stand by, stand by.

I wonder what Russia's response will be to the alleged ATACMS strike on the arsenal of the 1046 logistics centre in Karachev, Bryansk region last night?

I live in England, not too far from London, and I've already told my Wife to practice bending over and kissing her arse goodbye!

Medvedev:

“On the Unconfirmed Decision to Strike “Deep into Russia” and Russia’s Confirmed Nuclear Policy Framework

After the dust stirred up by Western media reports has settled, it’s clear that despite the apparent propaganda intentions of these publications, the implications could be very serious.

  1. It matters little who or when the decision was made to use NATO’s long-range tactical ballistic and cruise missiles against “deep targets” within Russia. Such attempts have already been made.

  2. It is not critical how many such missiles the enemy possesses today or their intended dual military and psychological effect.

  3. What’s more important is that these missiles are unlikely to significantly impact Russia’s battlefield strategy.

  4. However, it’s crucial to recognize that these decisions reflect the U.S. administration’s deliberate escalation, leaving the fallout to be managed by a potential Trump administration.

  5. The key point lies in President Vladimir Putin’s statement on September 12. As a result, a new version of Russia’s Nuclear Deterrence Policy has been officially adopted. The use of NATO missiles in such a manner can now be classified as an attack by the alliance on Russia. In response, Russia reserves the right to retaliate with weapons of mass destruction against Kyiv and key NATO facilities—wherever they are located. This effectively amounts to the onset of World War III.

Perhaps President Biden is indeed prepared to make a dramatic exit from life, taking a significant portion of humanity along with him.

"MOSCOW, September 17. /TASS/. In case of deep strikes against its cities Russia will respond with more powerful weapons, which are being kept ready, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.

"Today, the US does not hesitate to discuss the possibility of strikes on the territory of Russia. What do such strikes imply? Satellite clusters belong to the United States and to NATO countries. Targeting and command execution will in this case be performed in conjunction with satellite clusters by NATO personnel. This means that NATO is being completely involved in this conflict," Volodin said before the beginning of the fall session of parliament.

"This discussion can lead to the most terrible consequences. They are discussing strikes on our peaceful cities, and they are discussing this while thinking that it will not affect them. This is not so. We will retaliate. We have the means of retaliation. More powerful weapons are kept ready," he stressed.

According to Volodin, it is crucial for the parliaments of the United States and European countries to "understand and realize what can happen."

"[The incumbent United States President Joe] Biden, who is already gone, having quit the election race, [German Chancellor Olaf] Scholz, who has practically lost everywhere and his future as a politician is equal to nothing, and [France’s President Emmanuel] Macron, whose citizens also did not support him, today may provoke a conflict that will entail irreversible consequences. We, for our part, must do everything to prevent this," Volodin said.

He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin "is doing everything to stop a nuclear catastrophe and stop a war that may escalate into a world war."

"I would like the politicians of European countries to understand where the leaders who do not have the support of their people are steering them," Volodin stated."
