Unfortunately, even if the petition reaches a couple of million it won't make the slightest bit of difference but we have to start making our voices heard.
Farmer Harmer only got 9 million votes in the election. Imagine if we could get more than 9 million people to sign this petition? He would lose his moral mandate.
Not a brit citizen (us expat), but loving how it's been steadily rising in signatures, and beat the target in just a few days. If only the "debate" was something that wasn't controlled by the ruling party. You are right to presume it won't make much difference, but it's promising to see it gain traction so quickly.
Although I am all for ending the forever wars and not messing around in other people's countries, we in the U.S. also control our own trade. How 'bout no trade with countries doing dictatorship bullshit? How 'bout them apples?
I have never signed any of these as all they promise is that the results of any petition will be read out in Parliament, there is no agreement that it has to be acted on. They are normally read out in a slow day in the commons where there is hardly anyone there.
Will this call the local Council's to be reconsidered as well? Just asking for some friends in places like Southport and Blackpool, Manchester...These Councils need to go just as much as the national leadership...at least this is my take as a cheeky interloping Yankee.
Of course it the whole lot that need to be tossed...from the outside looking in there seems to be a desire to make everyone live in a slowing decaying environment while telling everyone that it can't be touched or changed because Telford stared at it for 10mins and you all should be proud of it....meanwhile London might as well be Mega City One...maybe the Angel Bros could do a better job at times outside of the Greenbelt then they can. Just gotta put up with them eating people from time to time.
