Yea some house & senate Republicans objected and voted against certifying, but ultimately none of it mattered without the audit. That's why so many changed their mind - to save their career and "move on"

The military planes would have most likely been carrying the motorcade armored vehicles. Anywhere from 5-20 vehicles. They always travel with AF1/2.
The fighter jets were escorts and always with the planes too, although sometimes they are high enough you don't see them or know they are there.
