Yeah, I fell for doing that for about 20 years. Kept giving to the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States. Finally stopped. It is a mixed bag of emotions for me. I always think of that one quote [I think it was Mark Twain, not sure] that says that "man is measured by how he treats his animals" or something to that effect. It absolutely tears me apart when I see those commercials regarding abused animals, especially dogs. There are always stories about animal abuse in the news, from wanton cruelty to overcrowded shelters and the like, and I wish I could do more, but the money sent to these organizations rarely goes to helping animals, it goes to line the pockets of the boards of directors. Makes me sick. If I had a billion dollars I would build huge shelters, hire vetted animal-loving staff, and tend to our furry friends until they move one. Dogs are the most beautiful creatures on the planet and deserve our love and care forever.
Quite a storied franchise. Interesting to see where they end up.
Would have to agree. About an hour east of Knoxville. It has its seedy spots, but overall it's a great place and the people are friendly.
It's shit like this that makes this board look stupid.
Man is not complete until he is married, and then he's finished.
That would have changed my life completely, back in the 60's when I was a kid. They didn't even really know what autism was.
I remember the part in that movie where they had to kill the dolphin. Sad scene.
Fascinating conversation on this topic. Enjoy reading the comments.
I remember the movie Stigmata, where the guy in there says "the kingdom of God is inside you, and not contained within walls of stone" or something to that effect.
