Yeah - my brother was Navy but I never really served around much Navy myself. Even at the Pentagon, where you would think I would have a better chance it was rare. Most of them were at the Navy Yard with some at Henderson Hall. I would occasionally see a couple of the Admirals when they would come down and tour my office though (my team did network security and pen tests on Army, Air Force, and OSD (Office of the Secretary of Defense and their people).
Big-wigs loved seeing us breaking into computers, and we decorated the whole room with hacker movie posters and special custom furniture with hanging monitors that could slide and turn to let them watch some of the stuff we did.
I know - it sounds expensive and unnecessary but when I say big-wigs I mean people like the JCS and service secretaries, and a ton of generals/admirals. Colin Powell came down with visiting VIPs several times. SECDEF came down once too.
Appreciate it fren. I was Air Force back in the day during POTUS numbers 41 and 42 and was lucky enough to serve part of it at NORAD and the Pentagon. Lots of history in both places. Too bad both places were a PITA to get in and out of (and find parking) - made me want to go somewhere else.
An awful lot of people that don't care about either party will split their votes. The reasoning is usually something like they want a divided government so it makes it harder for govt to keep spending our money on stupid things. In their theory the sides will get along for the important stuff. That used to work a few decades ago when both sides would fight during the work day and then go have beers together in DC after work.
Vermont is full of independents so I would guess they could still do that.
Something to think about... The USA used to have (WW2) titles in the military like CINCEUR or CINCPAC - Commander-in-Chief of US forces in Europe and Commander-in-Chief of US Forces in the Pacific. CINCPAC was pronounced "sink pack". Elon being named as Commander-in-Chief of Digital Soldiers could be CINCDIG or something to that effect.
Now remember him buying Twitter and holding that sink with the caption of "let that sink in"". There was also a meme yesterday with him holding the same sink, but this time he was in the Oval Office.
Maybe the first sink was him saying he was ready and the 2nd sink was letting people know the sink is "in" - part of the team. Sink or CINC - who knows?
Thanks for posting this - I had forgotten about the xkeysc part, and the part about the device causing harm to people. I remember the listening devices and vaguely remember them using air conditioner repair as a ruse though.
It could be a cellphone, a keyboard, a Pepe, a can of Diet Coke, a can of Monster, and a bag of popcorn.
