As of 1330 There is Air traffic over DC just NOTHING ABOVE 10000 feet
I see lots of Aircraft, but ZERO about that level. The Patterns of ALL aircraft above 10000ft go AROUND the space.
But the graphic covers practically the whole east of North Carolina, Virginia, and all of Maryland.
Has that always been so?
This comment is so late it's irrelevant (my comment, not yours) ... OPS graphic is missing air traffic below 10000ft, of which there is a ton. LOTS of people out flying their personal single engine aircraft. Every weekend it's like that. Folks taking a Sunday spin around the area. There are some high dollar aircraft but they are still below the hard ceiling of 10K

COVID case reported in washington center control facility. When this happens ATC services cease because the facility is cleared out and cleaned for several hours. Happened in Memphis center and miami center last week.

exactly. because if they wanted to close the whole airspace for something, that's probably the cover they would give. But I can't see any covert activity requiring a shutdown of the whole sector.
The problem is people are posting images that show that the airspace is NOT shutdown. If you zoom in on a normal plane tracking site. You will see there are TONS of planes flying around right now over D.C and such.
Monkey werx showed large aircraft went up hot at same time across country military planes did same. His one contact active duty was called up. Potus is thought to have signed the insurrection act. Would explain this n military activities seen

I think the official reason for this was that the ATC-control-center that handles this region could not work for several hours because china-virus, so all IFR (Instrument Flight Rules, big jets, not the small stuff) traffic had to circumvent the area.
If you look now, the hole is gone.

Flghtradar24 shows very empty skies over DC. 4 showing at DCA, 2 life flight helo's. Everything else is out away.
Zoom in. Flight patterns are lower. 3 airports in the area?
