The story simplified; Some 4chan Anon found a FB profile of a man holding a puppy by the ears, suspended off the ground. Other used background license plates to locate a general area, located the guy himself. Others got in contact with him and he was too trusting even for most of the chan. Turns out he has been breeding for fights and selling drugs. Reporting him wasn't working so one brave anon decided to offer to join him in one of the matches. Got info and proceeded to swat them over drugs during the fights. Arrested everyone there, and as an extra caveat we saved everything and sent it to their local Tennessee judges.
Supposedly the dude is looking at 15 years, but I cannot confirm that bit.
I remember it well. I'm @TopInfoBlogs over on Twatter. I made the graphic shown in the upper left and asked Joe M what he thought about it. He spread it far and wide, causing the event to be cancelled (and Comey then deleted his tweet). It made the NY Times too - they called us crazy, of course.
Some days later they raided a home just down the street the event was planned on and found a bunch of pipe bombs hidden away.
