I absolutely agree. Everything my team builds is cloud agnostic. The Azure and Amazon reps call and press to adopt all their super-duper fancy crap and I have managed to keep my clients off of it.
Where we do leverage cloud-specific infrastructure, I insist that we do it through a middle layer and build for disaster scenarios by maintaining offsite backups and off cloud functionality to replace the cloud functionality.

The amount of money behind it and it's rocket launch has been suspicious to me. It's hosted on AWS, which is owned by Bezos. Who owns the WaPo and has a contract with the CIA.
Their telegraphed and delayed demise. Google instantly axed it by play store because Trump didn't use android. Apple and Amazon waited days to try and bait Trump into using it then killed it when he didn't bite.
Then the "hack". Lol the hack. They claimed that somehow hundreds of people were able to login to the admin account and download 70tb of data over 24 hours. This is the biggest crock of shit I've ever heard. That's not how things work when servers and accounts get shut off. This especially doesn't work with the biggest cloud and host in the world.
They have IDS, IPS and people actually watching these things when the massive alarms go off. Automatic systems would have shut down the count for a dozen different reasons before anything of real importance happened. Speeds get throttled when there is odd download behavior like that. A bunch of IPs and multiple logins would be disabled. This is so ridiculously bullshit it's almost to the level of Biden winning without cheating. Amazon would have a massive lawsuit against them by Parler if this actually happened.
The data either got handed over by Parler themselves or by Amazon directly to the "hackers"
Two thing:
1 - They fired him, so I'm not sure how much they "stood behind him".
2 - Use GAB. GAB will be my primary and Parler my secondary.
I don't trust many companies, but i do trust Gab. I have been with their hosting company for 20 years and know for a fact that they are solid, hard-core patriotic.
