You don't have to declare your gender and they are not allowed to assume your gender. Isn't that a dilly? Your gender dysphoria is a medical condition. You are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act from having to disclose that you were born in a body with the wrong genitals. Your very presence in a women's restroom is proof of your right to be there.

This is a great idea! On the other hand, I as a mother of a little boy, I might choose to transition to a man only when he inevitably has to pee while we’re at the grocery store. I can then go into the men’s restroom with my son so he doesn’t have to use the women’s.

Recently heard someone float another idea of this sorts ... the progressives might eventually turn on the trans, just like they did to other groups they've used in the past ... here's a progressive argument against transitioning:
"Why would you want to transition to a women? There is no gender, and by wanting to transition, you are acknowledging biology, which isn't real, therefore, something is wrong with you"
(Which of course they'd throw in some insults like "biggot" to such a statement)

I've been skipping into the men's room for decades, my hubby hates waiting so I just go with him?

For your son's sake, don't ever let his teachers catch him in the women's restroom with you. They'll start transitioning him the next day.
