It's mostly like light pressure on hands, palms, arms, legs, and feet while talking or reading to your child. Holding them in a way so they can hear your heart beat.
Pet massage is actually closer to that "squish that cat" guy and it helps relax some animals, particularly rescues. It's a way of getting an animal used to interaction that mimics a parental animal and builds trust.
