I had an old boss who was in his early 70s and he taught me two things: When in a meeting only talk if you have to and only ask questions you already know the answer to.
Why do these things.
Are you asking cause you already know the answer?
When things get quiet, most people are uncomfortable & feel the need to fill the silence with mental/emotional bumbles, which ends up over selling or offering more information that simply confuses decision makers (think that needy & clingy GF/BF).
If you don't know the answer to a question, wild cards & disinformation will quickly come out which taint decisions. If you don't know the answer simply ask to meet again, research & then ask the questions when you know the answer so you can tell if they are BSing you or not.
That said, I have never been afraid to be the idiot in the room for everyone else & get good info/that wild card info coming out to solidify dicisions more quickly. These are always clarifying questions to make sure a 3rd grader can understand what is being said.
