Its 2018. You walk into work with a mask on. To the puzzled stares you say "I have a raging flu and fever of 103. But you all are completely safe, because thin moist cloth!!!"
What would be the response?
Youd have been ridiculed, laughed at, scolded, criticized sharply for infecting your co workers, and sent home...maybe for good. Because insane.
Retailers who cash in on community fears about SARS by exaggerating the health benefits of surgical masks could face fines of up to $110,000.
NSW Fair Trading Minister Reba Meagher yesterday warned that distributors and traders could be prosecuted if it was suggested the masks offered unrealistic levels of protection from the disease.
"I'm sure everyone would agree that it is un-Australian to profiteer from people's fears and anxieties," Ms Meagher said.
"There appears to be some debate about whether surgical masks are able to minimise the effects of SARS."
Ms Meagher said her department would investigate any complaints about false mask claims which concerned the public.
This discussion was allowed to happen because we had more common sense back then and didn't have social media to spread the virulent lies about masks at every turn. There were no internet " fact checkers" back in 2003. People knew that mask wearing did very little to stop the spread.
Somehow in 2020 / 2021, we've become embedded in full clown world, where all scientific and medical knowledge gets thrown out the window.
No, they needed a way to keep their paid actors faces covered so they couldn’t be identified. Force the mask on everyone and people won’t be as easily traced.
Most rational people don't care... We know COVID isn't anything to be worried about... Espeically if we drive every day (more likely to die in car crash).
The problem is, most people aren't rational these days. Common sense seems to have become a super power.
I don't believe there is such a thing as a virus that can only be detected by a nasal swab test. Every time I've ever have an illness, I'd always have some sort of symptoms that I'd notice right away. The whole asymptomatic spread theory is a hoax. There should be an 18 U.S.C 1041 with a title of "False or fraudulent statements and policies by federal employees to the general public" which should say something like, any federal government employee that makes a false or fraudulent statement or enacts policies or guidance of the same to the public regarding a major threat to the public by any sort of means shall be fined or imprisoned for no less than 20 years or both.
As I said in another thread, I bet in a few years there will be a bunch of studies that say all the chemical products used for incessantly sanitizing everything are causing cancer.
I feel like the masks will go away, and then they will release something REALLY nasty and deadly. It will kill millions of people, targeting those who took the vaccine. Then, they will say “See! We were right! Masks do work! Now, bow to your overlords!” Oh and “If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding.”
God I hope so. Getting really tired of being the crazy one for believing that fresh air is healthier than recycled air.
The myth of asymptomatic spread is the excuse for masks
It's rank malpractice by the world's medical community that healthy people including babies are being smothered with this bullshit

I think it was also a way for them to keep Antifa/bad actors unidentifiable when places started banning masks in response to rioting
Right...make everyone a crimina

a thousand up votes!
The asymptomatic spread aspect is the most annoying of all the COVID scares.
"Less than 1 in 10,000 chance."
Well, that is true.
0% is less than 0.0001%.

Just another move in the confusion game. It'll change nothing.
What a bunch of a** holes.
