Its not a huge deal to most of you, but this was big for me. I'm near Pittsburgh, PA where our governor has destroyed businesses. He and his sidekick, Rachel Levine?, made sure that everyone would "stay calm, stay, healthy, and stay safe" by keeping everyone locked down. I teach in a Catholic school where we we in person all year. Because the public schools were mostly online or hybrid, parents got sick of it and brought their kids to us. This is how bad it has been. Well, like most of you, I gave it the two weeks to flatten the curve AND THEN ANOTHER YEAR! I'm fed up. Yesterday I shopped entirely with no mask at Aldi. It was huge for me. I dont believe they work, but I havent had the nerve to try it. There were two women who got in line after me with only a few items while I had a cart full. I offered them to go ahead. They were both friendly and smiled and thanked. There was not one look or comment from them or anyone else including employees. I realized that something I have been seeing here is true. We have to lead. I'm betting most of them don't agree either but are hesitant to take that step. There are so many more of us!!! Today the permit to carry line in our area is unbelievably long. They have underestimated us.

Imagine doing this from day one and not complying with it?
My job requires travel. I do not fly, I drive. In the last year, since all this mask BS began, I refused to wear the muzzle. I did the research, found it to be 100% bullshit and flatly refused. In that time, across 11 states, I was confronted once....only once...at a McDonalds of all places.
The story-
Was traveling to end destination of Georgia. Was around 9am when I hit a nice small town that had a McDonalds and just wanted a large coffee. Line was wrapped around the place so decided to go in. Got looks, as expected, then was asked if I had been helped, said no and ordered my coffee. Same person asked if I had a mask. Told her no, not here to rob the place, just want a coffee and be on my way (with a grin). Manager appears and says I have to wear a mask. Told HER the sooner you get my coffee the sooner we both dont have to worry about it. A few more grumblings from her, but got my Coffee, told'em to have a nice day and left.
...only one in a year+.
Yep!!! You're right. We all tried to do what we thought was right amd decent. Tried to give benefit of the doubt. How dumb it was, in retrospect.
Good for you!
I have been maskless the entire time. I have only had a couple of employees and one random say anything. Only Whole Foods told me to leave. So, fuck Whole Foods.
Other than that, I have started turning the tables. When an opportunity arises, I ask the masked ones, "What do you think about wearing a mask?" Of course, I am maskless when I ask it.
Most of the time, they are tired of it and wish it would go away. They are in fear.
Only a very few defend it as a good thing, in which case I set them straight by saying something like, "You know that the masks everyone is wearing does nothing to stop the spread of viruses or keep anyone healthy, don't you?"
When they refuse to respond to that statement/question (more than 90% of the time), I then say/ask, "You know that wearing a mask harms your health when you wear it, right?"
This making a statment and ending it with a question is an effective way of getting people to think and yet not seeming too confrontational (I had a GF do that on me all the time, and I realized how effective it was -- lol).
We need to not only lead by example, but start red pilling people we run into.
Get the word out.
"You know that the virus usually gets in through the eyes, don't you?"
"Have you looked at a mask under a magnifier? It's like trying to keep mosquitos out with a wire fence."
My husband and I went in to a Lowes store this week without a mask (our first time). Something pretty cool happened. First we were the only customers in there without the mask. We were looking at appliances. The woman that works the department walked over and just talked and talked to us, as though she was glad to see whole faces. Then when we checked out, the checkout lady was just so friendly and looked happy. Lastly there were three younger employees standing by the front door chatting away. While we were checking out they just stopped talking and watched us. As we were leaving all three of them smiled and said "you guys have a great day" It made me realize that these employees everywhere that are made to wear masks are just of sick of it as us. They seemed like they enjoyed our courage. It felt like we had given them some hope that this stupidity may end soon.
If someone asks you if you need a mask, say no I can’t wear them. Most like will leave you alone. If they tell you you can’t be there without out one, just leave (if you can). I was asked to leave a store and I did. That’s also another opportunity to show people how serious you are being done with the masks. I would rather walk out of the store empty-handed and have to go somewhere else than to wear a mask.
This! We have to fight back! Take off the mask and boycott products. We have the power. UNITED WE ARE STRONG!!
Gov Wolf is worthless, we need to oust him next election and flip it to Trump’s side!
You mean the nexted rigged election?
100%
Wolf and Bike Lane Bill (Peduto) have destroyed Pittsburgh. It was a cool small city to visit for a day if you're passing through. Thelibs took it over. Sad.
100% agree
I decided that I mow identify as a Floridian
Put a mask on for the first time today, had to get some testing done at the hospital, it didn't seem like the time or place for my usual attitude. Thank God once I entered the building and took it off no one bothered me about it, the only mask Nazi was posted at the door.
That five minutes masked was too much, I won't be doing it again.(edit-ok once more for surgery, but that's it)
On the plus for the day, IT'S NOT CANCER!!!!! So that's cool.
Also!
Any advice on finding a good Catholic school?
Are you in Pittsburgh?
I wish! I wish I could find a Catholic anon who is a teacher!
l'm close to Olympia, WA
If you homeschool......
Thank you but they're all run by lefty Catholics who toe the Progressive line.
Wow! Youre on the other end! Glad to make your acquaintance! Ive been teaching in this wonderful school for almost 30 years. Ive seen a lot. Much to do has been made over the years about Middle States Accreditation. I can tell you it doesnt mean that much. It means that the school is trying to do what they say theyre trying to do. Ive not known a school to fail. It doesnt mean the school is academically superior.
I would make an appointment to visit and possibly observe a class. See what kind of vibe you get...does there seem to be a true love of teaching? Do the kids seem happy? Is it orderly and clean?
See if you can talk with any parents. We have parentd who will reach out to new or inquiring families. See if you get a Christian vibe and maybe a sense of unity...like a family. We have struggled a few times with enrollment, but because we have a family feel and strong sense of community people seem generally happy to be there.
Ask for data on Iowa testing or terra nova testing to see how the school performs academically overall. Generally our students would perform slightly above average at the lower grade levels to typically 2 to 3 grade levels ahead by 8th grade.
I'm not sure about out your way, but please make sure they arent following common core...the dumbing down of America.
Let me know if I can be of any help!!
This is all fantastic! I wouldn't have known to ask about any of that. Thank you for taking the time to explain.
My pleasure!!
God bless!
i've been mostly massless for the past year. outside of boarding an airplane/health inspections at my job/etc i haven't worn that shit.
i still have not really been given grief for it one single time (massachusetts but not boston area) if u ask me, people have been a tick nicer to me in general.
there's fewer braindead sheep in this country than we might think... just most people don't want to deal with confrontation so they deal with restriction their breathing.
probably 50% of customers that come up with a mask promptly remove it when they see i refuse to wear it. feels good man.
That's awesome.
I took my mask off on public transit the other day. I needed air. I was feeling lousy, stomach was doing flips. Someone said “mask up” and I said for the whole train to hear. “I’m pregnant, I’m nauseous and it’s my body not yours. Fuck off” no one said a word after and whoever was brave enough to said something in the first place didn’t respond. Also, I’m not pregnant. It’s just a great reply to shut people up. My body, my choice right?
good one! i should try that...'i'm pg'
lol i'm 70+
You don't have to be pregnant to be pregnant today. You are what you decide you want to be and switch whenever. Isn't that their idea? If you decide you're a man tomorrow, no problem. I'm still trying to figure out how to me a millionaire just because I say I am.
I think the next phase is asking these employees, “Do they pay you enough for this? Do you think you should be in charge of monitoring countless strangers bodies and health? Isn’t this a Target....?
True. Also, a woman is more likely to be confronted, especially by other women.
As a man who is tall and looks strong, very few people say anything to me, or even really look my way when I am the only one maskless.
That probably makes a big difference.
But just do what is right, and stay strong.
Remember: the masked ones have ZERO proof on their side that what they are doing is beneficial in any way, and we all know that it is very harmful to them and society in general. THEY. ARE. WRONG.
