The older guys in this site probably don't know it, but the gaming industry is gigantic, and makes way more money than Hollywood by now.
It's also an industry where China holds great sway in the mainstream, via companies like Blizzard, Riot Games, Activision. Check if you will. You'll see that the chinese company Tencent holds a sway in all of them.
If you're into video games as a pass time, or have children/nephews who do, I reccomend decoupling from the main scene and head into indie games territory, as the SJWs control most of the big titles out there.
As such, I personally suggest you guys should decouple and buy some indie games. They're always cheap, have plenty of creativity and passion built into them, and never have those gambling tactics designed to addict you and strip you from your money.
1st step : Stop buying annual sports titles (FIFA, Madden, NBA), and franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield. They gloat constantly about addicting children and teenagers into gambling and ruined many lives with loot box mechanics
Step 2 : Buy indie games: I personally reccomend GoG, Humble bundle and Steam for buying if you play on PC. Dirt cheap prices, constant sales and most importantly, they don't serve Wall Street. Avoid Epic Games and Activision/Blizzard like the plague, they're all controlled by China via Tencent.
Step 3 : Research: You gotta be careful about the things your children play, so be watchful and look for age-appropriate titles. I personally reccomend the Best indie Games and the Tensor Gaming Youtube channels (links on comment), as they have almost daily trailers of brand new and awesome titles with all kinds of themes, from the little kid- friendly to the more mature. Buying independant games also helps small studios to thrive and flourish, sending more quality titles into the market.
That was my suggestion. You guys tell me what you think about it

Check into asian stuff and JRPG's. The asian devs (even the chinese [still reccomend against them]) hate this woke BS just as much as we do, if not more.
It seems you answered your own question.
I used to be more of a gamer, I don't play much now that I'm married. At that point was already buying fewer games, especially new ones because even though the graphics were better, games have been degrading in quality for a long time (most games come out as beta versions and people pay to be bug testers).
The real solution is going to require some organization by the indie community into building cooperative studios. There are software tools that are freely available that can produce results that very much compare to the software used by blizzard and all.
At this point I am quite glad that I never got deep into the industry, I like software and game development even though now I'm more interested in AI. They all sell how "fun" the workplace is, but because video games operate similar to how books are sold and wind up having 6 month periods where everyone is working 20 hrs a day every day just to hit an impossible deadline. (Something attractive for an indie dev that just works on a project until it is complete and then put it out there on their own time).
It's also going to be difficult to uproot the AAA studios because they have become masters of the skinner box techniques and gambling methods to draw people into obsession.
It was more of a series of tips than a question. Gaming is here to stay, Best we can do is adapt and exploit it as a medium for comms and culture, bc the lefties are already doing it. But just denying the AAA studios your money and buying 10-15 indie titles instead not only is greatly helpful to the cause, but helps improve the market aswell.
Fair point, and really, as long as people continue to buy games like fallout 76 that was so incomplete they didn't even factor in NPC characters until months after the game was released.
Supporting indie studios will do good, but it seems that as long as something has flashy graphics and an interesting premise people will pay regardless how broken it is.
Show your children quality gaming. Games like Civilization can be wonderful tools for management skill, for example. Expose them to indies, present indie games for younger relatives. It's a whole other universe, with their own flashy stylized graphics and far more interesting premises than everything AAA can muster. It's your work to present and hook the children on good stuff, before the MSM hooks them on garbage.
I agree and would like to add: Play retro games. There are so many gems that came out in the early 2000s, 90s etc. that are worth playing, and since they didn't have "games as a service" where they just update and release dlcs, the games are usually crafted with much more love / detail and the stories are interesting, too! :) While you can't buy many games older than PS3 anymore commercially, they can be bought from resellers online or you can use a free emulator to play them on your pc (if you don't have any old console or not enough cash).
GOG for PC titles. And Nintendo still has a ton of their old stuff for sale on Switch. Also, score one more for PC, as the titles run better the older they become, and are cheaper aswell.
I'm a bit of a gamer. (I used to game alot more, but some of it has taken a backseat, so I try to stay in the know when I can).
Totally agree. Known for a while that gaming was and is going to be bigger than Hollywood. The nice thing about it,.. is that it's so easy to become a developer with very little investment. (which is both good and back).
I remember the days of GamerGate (yes I'm one of those, don't kill me). I remember the likes of Sarkeesian, Wu, and Quinn, and how the gaming news industry ran circles around these 3 Harpies, the money they got from certain donors, and the people they accused of wrong doing, either to remove critics from the industry (like Tim Soret for "The Last Night", or Alec Holowka's suicide).
But the good part about it is that, because it's easy to get into as an indie dev, people like me can learn and create our own games, whether to actually just sell to grow our own wealth, or create and grow a company to support others, or even to just put out a message.
I've been moving away from big AAA titles for a while, the last 2 major studio games I had purchased would have been Cyberpunk 2077,... and Kingdom Hearts III I believe. Everything else has been indie stuff, through Humble Bundle, or GoG (not shilling, just pointing out) Though I do still play World of Warcraft from time to time.
What I've noticed is that a lot of these small indie titles get their traction either because it's really that good, or because a mainstream gaming youtuber gets ahold of it (Markiplier,Jacksepticeye, PewdiePie) and people purchase the game to support the showcased game.
There is a pitfall here, as because some of these individuals, not necessarily the ones listed above, have a vested interest in playing according to the rules of the platform or have PR people who handle appearances and content. Good to provide them a working key for free if they want to try it, but even they would be wary of associate to a dev who has been associated as deplorable (until we can start moving and changing the direction of the industry away from China and the Woke crowd).
So my next solution for exposure would be among our own communities, either on this board or similar to others, and if there are any gamers or lets players willing to play and partake, showcasing it in order to spread it.
My own concern, much like with GamerGate, is the creation of inner circles and clicks of people who decide which games to promote, because then, just like what's happening with sharing information with Trump, the supposed "Plan", and Comms, you already have people pointing fingers and attempting to discredit or ostracize whether warranted or not, thus causing more division. How to fix this? I'm not sure.
Anyways, that's my long ranting contribution, would like to know what you guys think too.
Yes, especially with the availability of tools like blender (3d modeling and rendering), box2d/3d (physics engine), etc. That are freely available, it has never been easier for small studios and individuals to enter the fray.
The challenge is that there is a group of large studios who make millions off every title, and millions of indie devs that are paying attention to every sale.
I think a return to the shareware style is going to be very helpful to indie studios, forces them to only publish when complete and bug free.
The pay per play model is also why older video games were damn near impossible because people were expected to keep pumping quarters until they got good.
A bigger issue with the consoles was when they were internet connected and could be patched. At that point they started selling games in a beta state and would patch to completion and then sell patches and expansions.
I disagree with you about the need to update online games as the industry does. Would you believe that people still play quake online and that thing hasn't seen an update in roughly 20 years. Instead of having a host server, a P2P approach (and analyzing which participant makes the best host) can effectively offset that need and ensuring that everything is bug free. Then instead can just focus on add-ons that can be sold, or working on new games.
I have never encountered anyone that enjoyed microtransactions, ESPECIALLY when the microtransactions become a pay to win model, though they must exist because I've played some that wound up being pay to win and clearly people were paying a salary to guarantee they would not lost their game status.
Smaller projects. Low budget, high love. Real good products of entertainment. Mainstream picked up the china model bc it was the one that racks up millions in weeks. Hence my push for small studios. Games without DRM, simpler, but funnier. We don't need 8K graphics to tell a good story with sound mechanics. Games you just have to download, pick up and play (either single with local coop with friends and family). I believe that, just like MSM and Pedowood, triple A gaming is long due a gigantic crash for their consumer abuses. And like what happened 64 million years ago, the giant dinosaurs (mainstream), will tumble and fall dead under the weight of their greed, while the small rats (indies), will survive due to needing less food (funding) and being more efficient.
But yes, returning to the arcades would be another front to tackle on, but not by mainstream. They'd abuse the shit out us with such an idea.
Where's Steve Jackson when you need him? Anyone like that in gaming today?
Also, you didn't mention Nintendo. They're big, quality, and seem to avoid woke-itis.
It's a constant with eastern media. Either Japanese, Korean, or even chinese. They aint buyin' none of this BS. Also, Nintendo is always ideal for children. Has been for 40+ years
ANYTHING EA IS SJW GARBAGE. I CANT EVEN PLAY APEX WITHOUT A #STOPASIANHATE MESSAGE AND BLM BADGES.
Last EA game anyone should buy is Battlefield 3. All the rest could rot and catch fire.
Oh 1500 ticket Metro. remember the game (pre )dart patch hahhaha. we got some of the most angry messages ever for that week.
I'm not a huge gamer. I play less and less as I get older but I do have favorites. To be fair I like AOE but it's developed my Microsoft and we all know Bill Gates is an evil mother fucker. Other than that idk if my other favorites are DS propaganda.
I used to play Battlefield back in the day too back when it was 1942 and Vietnam. I think the last one I played was 2142. I also have the original Call of Duty but that's the only one I've ever played. I'm god awful at shooters so they don't interest me but I do have favorites. Postal 2 is the best. It's got the rock n roll level of controversy thing going on with it and it's almost like a life simulation with guns. Really ahead of the curve.
I'm a strategy gamer and so by proxy I'm a computer gamer. I think the consoles shaft the gamers and don't provide for modding and community building. Civilization is good but they got woke with their leader choices in V. I used to be all about Civ though. Total War, Europa Universalis and Crusader Kings.
I'm really into Mount and Blade (the whole series is legit), Freeman: Guerrilla Warfare and GTA right now. GTA is good but I can never tell if it's a neo-lib propaganda piece or a parody of neo-liberalism. I guess the ambiguity is good for business for them right now.
To me Mount and Blade is the future of action and strategy games. It's like GTA except instead of driving and flying simulator elements it has strategy elements. It really puts you in the shoes of a field commander and a head of state if you're good enough. It's a really revolutionary concept.
Also Minecraft is always legit. I made a whole economy in that game when I played it with my ex and her family.
Gaming is different. Best we can do is abandon them like we did to Pedowood and the MSM, and look for alternatives. Decouple, so you don't become dependent to them like most of our children are, and, if possible, infiltrate and steer into a different direction. But while that, the altertative is something you like, and doesn't give them money at the same time. Hence the inde reccomendations.
It's unfortunate, but the days of organizing an animal crossing protest are numbered. The control is absolute in a way that is harder to subvert than social media.
https://www.tauniverse.com/ and https://www.beyondallreason.info/ highly recommended RTS. Linux versions.
Yo. Valheim is lit. Highly recommend it. Basically like if Skyrim and Minecraft had a baby
Hey, thanks for posting this. Good stuff to keep in mind. Gaming is awesome, but it works different from media and social media.
I thank heavens for MAME. Shmups build up reflexes, are fun af, and also test if you got epilepsy at the same time.
I play on the quest 2, which I didn't know required a fagbook account.
I made one, put no pictures on it, added no friends. It's blank as fuck, just waiting for Zuck Fuckerburg to go to GITMO and FB to be broken up so I can delete that shit.
That said, any patriots have a quest 2 and would like a based patriot friend?
Thank you for this ?
As much as I love what Xbox has become with Gamepass etc, Microsoft is deeply embedded in some really creepy plans for the future.
IMO they keep Xbox front and center as a distraction. People may worry about Goolag, C_Amazon, Zuckbook (as they should) while most sleep on MSFT these days. All by design.
Ya,you lost me at battlefield.
Old games (2012 and before) are always a big yes, GoG have plenty of them
