Communists torture and kill Buddhist monks. Watch the documentary, or read the book, The Fire Under the Snow by Tibetan monk, Palden Gyatso.
You are supposed to OBEY THE STATE ONLY.
Not your family, religion, individuality or freedom of thought. Communists are deathly afraid of Religion.
They know this is last stand.
Peace and enlightenment through superior firepower
The world will never be the same
Define meek.
What's more non-violent that toting a peacemaker? Even a little 22. will make change come from within.
In one ear and out the other.
Unless it's a .22.
Quite a number of retired military become monks...
LOL, it's a kind of misconceived meme.
People have this idea that buddhist monks are one variety, the peacenik kind that wouldn't hurt a fly.
Well, they may not hurt a fly, but people forget that the buddhist monks perfected the Shaolin kungfu, and historically, have been in riots, overthrows, etc.
YUP
Grasshopper, you learn karate so that you need never use it
All those tactical Dalai Lama memes make sense now
In the Buddhist monastic training rules it states "Intentionally bringing about the death of a human being, even if it is still an embryo—whether by killing the person, arranging for an assassin to kill the person, inciting the person to die, or describing the advantages of death—is a pārājika offense."
A pārājika is the worst offense in the training rules of a Buddhist monk. One immediately ceases to be a monk the moment a pārājika is committed and can never again ordain as a monk (in this lifetime at least)
Yet the Omniscient Buddha allowed the nuns to carry knives for self protection due to the dangers of rape...
This most likely goes against the first of the ten precepts all Buddhist monks are required to take (https://www.nku.edu/~kenneyr/Buddhism/ptf/dasasila.html ). I mean unless his intention is to teach others gun safety, or use the gun for making holes in the wall.
Even if this were defense, monks are not suppose to harm or kill other living beings.
Speaking from personal experience, without doxxing myself, nevergreen and apples are correct- I address catbertz with a historical ref; the Monk in Saigon that protested the corrupt government by setting himself on fire had the samadhi power to withstand the flames and calmly leave the body-however, young monks that were inspired to emulate that monk died horrible deaths because their samadhi powers were not solid..
