In my town ( a deep blue town) we started to receive all kinds of glossy material in the mail about a new water company that the town wanted to use for our water. Then a small dedicated Republican group went through all the paperwork on regulations and found out that there was a section that showed we had to actually vote to change water companies. We had a special election (this was about 2 or 3 yrs ago). The weekend before the vote, handmade signs went up at busy intersections and we received a simple letter in the mail the day before the election. Yes, the new company that the town wanted was a Wall Street firm. We voted it down and here is what is amazing - it was one of the largest voter turnouts in the town's history.
Proof that blue or red, people generally want the same things: clean water, food on the table, adequate shelter, warmth at night, security, and everything else is a welcomed bonus as determined by the level of community involvement. The lower the involvement, the less likely people will be able to control just the basics in their life.
Is this a loaded question? Arizona has obtained a full metric shit ton of money for water that they were supposed to share when the infrastructure was up and running. Money for the other states to retain some of their own water for irrigation and development. Money that has since been wasted to the point that the remaining funds get re-allocated and LOSE THEIR WATER! C.A.P. A.S.W.A. And, don't even get me started on their "wilderness protection" bullshit. Ever since they have taken away our usage rights for livestock in parts of wilderness and riverbeds, it has become an unruly fire hazard and just not even fun anymore. They say its because they don't want cow shit in the water. Why not take out the elk too? They make a sizeable "cake". And the fish. That's where they fuck, for Christ's sake...

One of the reasons chyna wants Michigan
Over my dead body.
Mine too!
Anyone who tries to make water a scarcity for profit and control should be hung.
Watch the water...
look into Bechtel's attempt to privatize water sources in Bolivia
Known as the Bechtel Water Wars
Sometimes I wonder how we haven’t lost everything already
