Does anyone remember the name of the medication that the military was supposedly using to cure Tinnitus? I saw some post back on QRV but cannot find the reference anywhere else.
Thanks.

Suffered for years. Worst part is that I have fantastic hearing, so I am sensitive to every little noise - hyperacusis. No technique has helped - tried evering. Have learned to live with it by playing music and falling asleep to music/white noise or even the TV. Would be fantastic to spend a day in total silence.
For those of you who don't have it, you have no idea how it sounds. If you focus on it, it WILL make you crazy.
This noise helps one be distracted.....similar to the claims of the tapping/drumming in the neck which newusermemes one user is abusive about....this will also distract the brain...these both work on the same principle.
If pouring maple syrup in your ear makes one THINK that they are cured ...great!
My tinnitus and hyperacusis is severe....so nothing so minimal will help me....and mine was for a medical mistake, not abusing my ears.
I am not affiliated with the website.

Thank you so much for this! Mine is hereditary ... it's only getting worse with age.
Hi, this cured my tinnitus of 15 years. It works very well for many people. Before you knock it because of how simple it is, please try it for a couple of days.

And you couldn’t even say why this exercise works....
Lemme know if you find it. Ignoring it works best so far.

Thanks. Pretty crazy. I'll try it!
Hi any luck with the tinnitus?
Yep crazy.....snake oil crazy....just like the viral video of tapping your ear....all that does is distract your brain for a few minutes. Tinnitus is inner ear damage, simple...and it sucks.
I've been to an audiologist and have measurable hearing loss. She explained that tinnitus was the brain filling in noise in a certain frequency range to compensate for hearing damage aka psychological, to some extent. The tapping and other physical methods likely work as neurological trigger points. It's a very odd condition.
Yes....your brain turns up its “gain” or signal sensitivity if anyone has ever used a guitar amplifier. So now the brain is looking for the signal that is suddenly gone due to hearing loss. Please don’t let any “doctor” give you Prozac or other drugs to calm you, helping coping with tinnitus....that only gets you hooked on the drugs.
You will never “get used to it” but realize that damage was done, and as long as you stay away from noise over 85db, it shouldn’t get worse. Use earplugs....earplugs and good muffs at the shooting range. Always have some foam earplugs in your pocket just in case...I will never own a convertible now.
That's a big negative on the SSRIs fren. Bad stuff there.
Guns and loud music did most of the damage. Hard to stay away from 85 db when you like loud music while driving. Not often as the good system is in my play car. I don't wear them on the motorcycle, instead opting for music in the helmet, which I try and keep low.
My hearing is OK up to about 2k, but then it rolls off on a steep slope, dropping about 10-12 db every doubling in frequency. The problem is there are parts of speech in the 1500-2500 Hz range which comprise speech - sounds like "ck" and "st". It makes it very hard to hear in loud environments like a bar.
I'm destined for hearing aids at some point. I'm trying not to get too old too quickly.
There is a university of Michigan device that has been in the works for a decade, hopefully that will be ready in a few years.
A similar company in Sweden called Neuromod has an electrode device as well, but the effectiveness rate was only around 30%, and you must travel there and it is $3,000.
There's a few tinnitus masking sounds on YT, this works for Dad.

Also, the Schumann resonance is said to interfere (I'm not sure how to stop the earth humming I'm afraid).

Nifty. I'm trying out the YouTube link.
I have high pitched tinnitus in both ears. (I can easily ignore so long as I'm listening to something else.) I have low pitched tinnitus in my right ear. (requires complete silence to hear, but I find it most annoying) It took me quite a while to figure out the low pitched tinnitus.

Do you still need to listen occasionally for the cure to work?
I'm listening to it through some nice Klipsch Reference Series bookshelf speaker on my desktop and I have to tell you it gives your ears a workout.
Listen? I think you are replying to someone else. The link I sent is an excercise.
Ah, I'm following now. Thanks.
Didn't know one existed, would be good if it can be cured or at least alleviated.

Thanks! I've had Tinnitus for 40 years. I remember waking up one morning when I was 18 and my ears were ringing, like I had just left a concert. But it never faded. I just tried this exercise and it has significantly reduced the level of ringing - hard to tell by how much, but at least reduced by half or more. I will continue to do this!
Hi, just checking on your tinnitus. How's it going?
Yes, keep doing it until it goes away. It will come back, sometimes a few hours or few days or few weeks. When it comes back just do it again. Eventually it takes longer and longer between sessions.
Snake oil
LoL, I am not asking for any money. I am just linking to a video of an exercise. From the experience of myself and many other people I know this works. What is the basis of your accusation of snake oil.
I see no scientific studies or trials....snake oil because you have “ testimonials” from who knows who they are....
I have read about it .... but go ahead if somehow it works for you....great! Next try hypnosis....
All this is, is a short term distraction.....hey IF there was a real cure, or even something that made it better....I’d be first in line.
“ we are all different so that it is impossible to suggest a single form of treatment that will work in every case and for every person. ”
I'll give it a go - thanks!
Hi, how is your tinnitus?
Sadly, still very active. This method worked the first time but not on the second try. Just tried again and its got quieter but has not gone. Will keep trying for a bit longer. Thanks for asking, hope others have fared better.
Yes. It takes some time for certain people, works right away for others and never works for some. Thanks for trying!
I think there may be a link between magnesium deficiency and tinnitus. Something to look into for those that suffer with it.
I take magnesium anyhow, it’s good for reducing inflammation and relaxing the body prior to going to bed. Plus most people don’t get enough magnesium in their diets anyhow.
Avoid the oxide version (that’s what you find in most cheap magnesium supplements found in grocery stores.) Magnesium glycinate (sometimes called magnesium bisglycinate) is the more effective form and won’t give you the runs like the oxide version.
Very true....
Interesting concept, I am going to look into it.
Answer the telephone. (Sorry I couldn’t help it. Runs away.)
Seriously, there are some exercises that involve head positions that somehow relieve it for some people. Someone I know spoke to an ENT was telling me about it but I don’t know which movement they did.

You habituated.....What this is a form of TRT.....teaching your brain to ignore the sounds.
What is trt?
Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. So tinnitus is our brains trying to fill in “signal” from a hearing loss...that is now missing. https://chchearing.org/nyc/tinnitus-specialist/hyperacusis-relief/
I see. Thank you.
If your tinnitus is caused by a jaw issue, like TMJ...this can help, but most tinnitus is from a hearing issue. If one has “perfect” hearing you may still have hidden hearing loss in the ultra high frequencies that ENTs (they suck) usually don’t test.
ENTs normally test in normal hearing range up to 8k Hz, there may be damage at 12 k that your brain is trying to cope with.....hence the tinnitus.
Same here, did not know one existed but sure. Could use it

If people want to try an unproven exercise, you may also try this....
https://tinnitusmix.com/
This person has 1000 more testimonials than the drumming technique....which on fakebook, the ATA....and every tinnitus forum I have been on, no one has had success with the tapping/drumming exercise described.
Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. So tinnitus is our brains trying to fill in “signal” from a hearing loss...that is now missing.
https://chchearing.org/nyc/tinnitus-specialist/hyperacusis-relief/
Our brains have plasticity which tries to adjust and hide the noise...it takes years, or decades. Some have had limited success with TRT....
Others have had success with “masking,” even masking hearing aids which covers up the noise with another noise. ENTs suck....they like tinnitus, gives them money since there isn’t a cure.
There are drugs being developed....but still a decade away.
They are working on drugs to make the inner ear cilia regenerate....will make people hear again, then the brain has its signal returned....and no tinnitus.
Others are working on devices to calm the brain’s sensitivity through electrode stimulus, and others to train your brain to ignore the sounds by helping the brain’s plasticity.
The snake oil tapping or “drumming technique” is a distraction.....you could stick a pin in your butt every 15 seconds and the pain would do at you as well.
The guy is pushing a technique that admits, “we are all different so that it is impossible to suggest a single form of treatment that will work in every case and for every person.”
As I said, your brain is trying to heal itself....by stopping the noise.....but it is still a hearing loss which is usually the problem...
So does the body regenerate from hearing loss, doctor?
You have no idea about biology, do you?
Again you use a straw man argument. You have no idea what the parts of the inner ear actually are....smh.....open a book, you may learn something.
You know Doc, the vaccines have tinnitus as a side effect, among many.
Tinnitus has ZERO to do with ear drums ....
You like your straw man arguments....that tapping technique has been proven by many tinnitus sufferers not to work, but if it works for you...great. Placebos can be very convincing.
You completely worthless person. So when multiple people are helped by the technique it's not proven to work. But when it doesn't work for multiple people it's proven to not work? What the duck double standard is that. You are disgusting.
Having tinnitus, I have been through all the quackery....and I am glad some people are helped by this “technique, even though it is a placebo effect. I had an opini9n, and you are butthurt...you are a bad person.
Lol you are a bad person, just go away.
The military has nothing that cures tinnitis....they have treatments that may help immediately after an acoustic trauma. Prednisone in high doses is used within a week of a trauma in case the reduced swelling will help keep the damage from permanently killing the inner ear hearing hairlike cells...cilia.
Anything over 85db could cause hearing damage....if you need to raise your voice to the person next you, your environment is too loud. Always wear ear plugs when using tools.
NEVER, NEVER allow an ENT to clear ear was a vacuum device, or flushing device....many people have gotten tinnitus from that.
MRIs are loud, bring your own earplugs.
Ive started using vicks vaporub. Just under my nose and some around my jaw by my ear and it seems to work a little. Only been one day but I've noticed some improvement. It helps unclog the tubes that drain into your mouth from your ear.

I second castor oil. It has worked miracles before my eyes.
If it is a normal affliction, I would expect people of every epoch at least mentioning it.
It seems that it has only come to the fore in our modern age ....
If that is so .... we would have to consider an alternative explanation than hearing loss in the higher frequencies .... Perhaps the brain is stimulated to respond due to outside sources of those stimulae ..... which just so happen to interfere with our neurons. ....
If the price were to be no wireless transmissions at all, would that be a price we would be willing to pay? IF only 10-14% is afflicted? Or is this just an early warning signal of more side-effects of these external interferons coming into view?
try gingko biloba
That was deboonked about 15 years ago unfortunately, plus that is dangerous if you are in blood thinners.
works for me - there's always big pharma shilling on these things
LoL qanon was debunked too
Ok....not sure of your point....you like misinformation?
