Spot on. This persistent libertarian idea that "as long as two people consent to (x action), it's perfectly fine" is cancerous. Porn mentally and spiritually damages the people involved and all of those watching. Hurting yourself and others is an affront to God, and also a crime against humanity by hurting millions of people who partake. Let's not even get started on how many children (average of 12 for boys) who have completely had their view of people warped by pornography.
Just because it is voluntary doesn't mean it isn't a crime.
Edit: I always find it funny how conservatives and libertarians will generally agree with me until I bring the topic of porn. Interesting how defensive people get when it comes to watching a bunch of strangers fornicate. Do yourself a favor and watch some videos (plenty on YT) about the dangers of porn.
That figure has been updated to 7 yo for boys and 9 yo for girls. The internet made it younger. Smartphones and zero supervision made it incredibly young.
That's a shame, though I'm not surprised. The inevitable consequence of making porn free and readily available at the click of a button.
The only porn that was ever worth watching is vintage 80s Taiwanese VHS costume-drama comedy-porn. Everything else was boring and stupid.
Steve Deace once said when you hear a preacher raging against a particular sin, it's the one he's struggling with.
We struggle with porn. I do. I'm one of those people you mentioned who was warped by it at the age of 12. Yet, the love/hate nature of the addiction is hard to break and acknowledge, not to mention the guilt of wanting to use it, the shame of giving in, the understanding that it's bad, yet doing it anyway.
Not everyone can admit that. So we end up turning into Gollum, simultaneously loving and hating the "precious."
Eh my girlfriend and I are long distance. Limited on things. Porn is good for her, and it's best to watch it on a site that will riddle you with viruses if you so much as click on the play button compared to Pornhub.
Once we move in together (after our lives are a bit more together, particularly mine as she is coming to live here) neither of us are going to have time for things like that anyway because we are going to be building a life together and that takes effort and commitment, not to mention it's pretty exhausting to be an adult without much direction.
Deace isn't Jewish.
Naw. Resisting gay marriage is understanding that marriage exists for a purpose involving reproduction and raising children, not getting a tax break from the government.
I think a Middle Eastern Muslim dominated country would be a better fit for you.
No thanks, I prefer Christian countries.
Hmm. Based on your comment it sounds like you'd be more comfortable in a theocratic oligarchy. The Christian ideas the US were founded on freedom of choice. Freedom to choose to follow God, freedom to choose what to partake in and not to... If you're not comfortable with people's freedom of choice, this isn't the "Christian" country for you.
This is how it appears to a third party reader of this convo: You're attacking a straw man and you're defending pervertedly watching strangers fuck on camera to get your jollies. Knight-errant is correct that porn is a weapon against morals and spirit. It's unjustifiable to defend watching porn as a Christian moral choice.
It has more to do with self control. Christianity is about self control, not having a theocratic government dictate what your moral code is.
Porn is bad. There arent any justifications for it.
You seem to have a twisted understanding of the freedom that the Founding Fathers promoted. It had nothing to do with giving free license to be complete degenerates. Their idea of freedom was not about the freedom to spread pornography and consume such things. It was freedom to be unmolested by overreaching governments when it came to things like freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to defend one's own life.
This modern conception of freedom that you hold yourself wasn't introduced into out society until the 20th century by a bunch of sick "intellectuals" from the Frankfurt school.
