The cofounder and CEO of Voat - the 'free speech' Reddit lookalike - has closed the site, saying he 'just can't keep it up'.
Investment vanished in March this year, says Justin Chastain in a post on the site, forcing him to fund it himself. But he's now out of money, he says.
"I’ve tried meditation, I’ve tried prayer, I’ve tried reaching out for help. Some solutions worked for a little while but nothing has remedied the underlying issue," he says.
I have never heard of VOAT before I got to GAW. Sure would be great to be able to call up Justin Chastain and get his side of the story. Oh wait, I can't do that, so all I have as an outsider are articles with quotes and the subsequent discussion that can be achieved by presenting information.
We begged the owner to ask for donations from the group, many offered and were ready to give what they could. Set up a donate button. No, he said. Like for some unknown reason he WANTED to shut it down. Bummed it's gone, was a great place to hang out.
I think as Q knowledge spread to more normies they shut it down not to scare them off. Free speech is toxic to the indoctrinated. I was on there until the end and it was the funnest place, but my mother would have been upset by the bantering. And some of the truths told.
