The threads of an N95 mask would create a gap ~27ft in diameter between them.

So this time, fouci was right, masks don't do anything.

Like throwing sand at a chain link fence .
That math doesn't sound right. If the actual virus was 50nm in size and an N95 had a 300nm pore size, your analogy would make the mask pore size 9 inches, not 27ft. I'm pretty dim, so I'm looking for someone to point out my error.
Regardless, I don't believe in germ theory, masks as prevention of illness, lockdowns, vaccines or little Faucis telling us to be afraid. I just worry about the above analogy being spread and causing us embarrassment.
I'm more than happy for someone to prove me wrong, this is the math I came up with. Happy and sad to say I checked my scale and conversions repeatedly, numbers based off CDC measurements, cross checked with several websites, including manufacturers.
It sounds like you confused your proportions or convertrd wrong if you say 9 inches.
Be careful as MANY sites do not convert correctly. I saw several places where they said 60nm is equal to anywhere from 0.06 to 6 microns.
Way back when this covid thing began, I swore they were saying that an N95 mask had a pore size of around 300um (microns) and that covid's virus was a little under that. What I read in trying to verify your post was completely different compared to a year ago. They were talking in nm (nanometers). I'm seriously confused and wondering if I wandered into another reality. I don't mind, I just wish it was a reality that didn't include anything related to covid.
Minor correction: COVID-19 is the disease, SARS-CoV-2 is the virus. :)
Triggered mask nazis are music to our ears. Seethe.
In his analogy the vast majority of droplets would be less than four feet wide. The smallest could be less than a foot wide and the largest around 13 feet wide.
Imagine spikey ping pong balls suspended in beach ball sized saliva bubbles floating through holes roughly the size of one half of a tennis court.
I 100% agree with you PREMISE, that CONTEXT is critical when having the "SIZE" debate.
Yes ... ALL airborne viridae need a delivery VEHICLE or VECTOR. I checked the math myself, and the Ping-Pong ball analogy is pretty accurate, but for the sake of being conservative, lets make it a ... Golf Ball. Not a ping pong ball, but a Golf Ball.
Lets Assume the AVERAGE thread space were in fact 27 feet (also good math) when the Virus is the size of a golf ball.
A PROFESSIONAL SOCCER GOAL IS 24 FEET WIDE.
Lets say for the sake of CONTEXT the 'VECTOR' or 'VEHICLE' is a two passenger golf cart. The standard Golf Cart is 48 Inches (4 Feet) wide.
That GOLF CART, with the little Titlist Pro-Virus One, fit snuggly is the little ball holder would have to, 100% of the time, smack into the the goal posts. How many 'GOLF CARTS' would be in a persons sneeze or cough.
Again, Lets make the CONTEXT even more conservative ....
AN M1 ABRAMS MAIN BATTLE TANK IS 12 FEET WIDE FROM TRIM VANE TO TRIM VANE.
No arguing it Fren ... Regular cloth and surgical masks are USELESS.
Not really, absorption being a thing, all droplets over a modest size will be caught and absorbed by the cloth.
How useful you mask is cam honestly be easily checked by just spraying a water bottle through it from like 6-8 inch away (if it actually has enough force to go twice that range, otherwise move closer). Most masks will see basically no pass through, and water has less cohesion than spittle and will thusly form smaller droplets.
We don't actually need this debate. You can literally just grab a spray bottle and check the passthrough rate of moisture of every single cloth in your house. You'll find that cloth is remarkably effective at soaking up droplets trying to pass through it at high speeds
I'm sorry, but you're just plain wrong.
And let's even decide to engage with you on your premise, if you take your premise to the next step, it completely falls apart: What happens when the mask reaches saturation point?? And also, this video...

You're right, there is no need to debate this. Because masks do not work. Period.
Yes really.
Alright, You have outed yourself. No name calling, but ur defense is hard not to call parochial. So ... let me help u with some of your fallacies. 1. You compared the force of a human (or any animal) cough or sneeze to a spray bottle. The human sneeze is no less than 10 times the pressure of a spray bottle, that works on the siphone principle, as opposed to a sneeze which is like force from high powered projectile propellant. The droplet dispersion from a squirt bottle will not ‘mist’ like a sneeze or cough will. 2. You compared human body fluid to tap water. That is literally the height of mis/disinformation. 3. “All droplets over a modest size” ... what about the millions of droplets under the modest size. What about those little guys? You know, absorption being a thing and all. 4. “Most masks will see no pass through”. That has been proven patently false.
You are right. We do not need this debate. You need to learn how to read
Wrong. As someone else mentioned, masks quickly reach a saturation point, making them useless. At that point, then you are breathing through a soggy, disease ridden mess, dislodging particles to inhale.
For protecting others, I sugest you check out some high speed sneeze videos on youtube. Both disgusting and fasinating.
Ideally a sneeze is worst case what a mask has to stop. The force and spray through is crazy.
