Don't be fooled by him. I had to leave his concert a few years ago after repeatedly being pummeled by his massive light show which spelled out: "FUCK TRUMP"
Sorry for off topic but... how are people getting those little pepe icons and flags next to their names? I can't see anywhere in settings and it's driving me nuts!!
You have to be bestowed one by the mod team. Some are given by request others are earned by post/comment style. Good things come to those who wait. I would love a HAL9000 (the red eye) one, but it doesn’t exist so... here I wait.
I was always of the opinion that Roger Waters was a huge dick because of some reason surrounding the breakup of Pink Floyd, that he was responsible for the friction among the band that prevented them from working together. Now I am more hopeful.
If I remember right he tried to steal the name “Pink Floyd” from the rest of the band when he left. Which in and of itself makes him a dick. They’re still one of my top favorite bands regardless.
Ditto 1 of top favorites here. And Gilmour is the superior talent (through his strat) anyways. He is one of the guitarists who I try hard to emulate when I'm in the mood to experience failure lol.
Waters can’t write music and Gilmour cant write lyrics…basically. Waters has the showmanship in him and Gilmour has the finesse to take Waters’ ramblings and make you feel more than the whining of it. (Lookin at you “The Final Cut”)
They do suck without each other, although “The Division Bell” is one of my favorites. Probably because I grew up hearing it in the car with my dad.
Oh that would be awesome, a re-do on final cut. It has some gems in it that could be made so much better with more heart in it from Gilmour. He phoned it in on that one, and I don’t blame him, but it’s not a true floyd album as it stands, to me anyway. And yes, Waters has a great voice too.
Robin Trower gets to be in the discussion as well, of gifted guitarists who don't need to use speed as a weapon, who can squeeze and massage every available nuance from a single note.
Asked for comment Syd Barret replied
“ I’ve got a bike. You can ride it if you like.”
Waters lives on the dark side of the moon.
Those elevated by the masses to elite status typically hold those masses in unutterable contempt. Once PF gained superstardom they despised their audiences and the agents who made them “stars”. Their oeuvres was bitterly focused on the exploitation they experienced at the hands of fans and handlers alike. These are not happy people, despite the money and fame and all that comes with it.
When I saw this it reminded me of the commercials I've seen popping up on ESPN app or YT, where some pansy dude named adam talks about growing up in the 90s and how internet governance hasn't changed since he's been aliive and that it now should be changed. It's sponsored by FB. Instantly scared the shit out of me, what is FB trying to change in terms of internet governance? I don't believe for one second it's some noble cause to allow more freedom of internet activity. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
I am so glad to read this. These days I need some bands or actors, or directors, that I can still respect... Most of them turned out to be such spinless virtue signalling sleazebags... I needed this.
Roger is what happens when a boy is raised by a commie mother and no dad. Mary Waters was a well known socialist activist in Cambridge, she'd hold meetings at her house.

He's misguided or just deceptive
Blind squirrel?
I was at one of his concerts and the same thing happened. He's also super into pro-palestine stuff.
Nah I think he's connected. Lots of famous musicians from that time were from military/CIA families, had handlers, the whole deal.
Yeah, he's a shitty Trump hating rich rock star who writes songs about what bullshit it is to be a rich rock star
He hasn't been in Pink Floyd since 1985
Broken clocks are right twice a day.
Waters is buffoon. Great musician, but a buffoon.
It's sad that many people in entertainment I thought I respected for their musical talent, I can no longer respect from their lack of intelligence.
Yea, you have to separate the art from the artists sometimes, it is what it is.

Thanks for the info!
One of the mods, I think Uhtred, does request threads every once in a while. When these rolled out, some users had them automatically added.
Ah I see. Thanks!
Great lyricist... mediocre musician. Gilmour was the great musician.
I’ll bet it was “Another Brick in the Wall”. That would sum up FB pretty well.
Radio KOAS
Bingo! Part 2, of course.

Don't be. He's a huge dick

Gilmour can make you feel more emotions with 3 notes than most guitarists can in a whole song.
His guitar solos on Dogs alone make him top 5
Having said that, I prefer waters version/vision of Pink Floyd.
And having said that!..... They kind of both suck without the other

Pretty much agree. Although I find waters voice underrated.
The final cut should be their next project. Take out all the sax and add Gilmour guitar in it's place

Gilmour did grow as a songwriter since Waters left...(I think his wife helps with lyrics) while Waters has only become more dickish
Well stated, Anon.
Nobody plays slow like Gilmour. He can wring that emotion out of every note. The only one I know of who's as good at that is Jeff Beck.
2 of my 3 favorite guitarists already in the chat; I may as well add the Reverend BFG to round out the field.

"You've given me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it, and I thank you all!"
--said Roger Waters never.
Boo hoo my mummy never appreciated my genius

Pink Floyd always called out the DS - they were based and ahead of their times
Maybe David Gilmour. Waters has ALWAYS been a liberal asshole. He still is
