Could orphanages afford proper burials for kids that died due to not being able to afford proper medical care?
What happens when a plague sweeps through an orphanage? Do they suddenly have enough money to pay for gravestones?
Remember what an orphan is: a kid with no family. They were likely buried when they died, with no one to call, no next of kin, and certainly no marked gravestones.
I am so angry and heart broken for children that have been abused, neglected, and raised with no hope of love or comfort. If my arms were big enough, I would hold them all. I know my Father's are. But oh how I wish they would have known that comfort on this earth, in this time.

They didn't exume and examine the bodies. They walked into a graveyard at an old church, found a few unmarked graves and decided it must have been murder. It's probably graves of nuns and priests or poor people who opted for wooden grave markers. There's no connection established with schools whatsoever.
There are many paupers graves (unmarked) in the USA... especially during the Great Depression. Unfortunately one of my Grandfathers is in an unmarked grave, we know the church cemetery , but the site is long lost.
Paul was a Roman, and the co-opted a fledging religion and fused it with Roman administrative empire-building. They sure as hell did not learn the pomp and pageantry from Jesus. Or the amassing of riches and treasure.
