Somehow I stumbled upon the edge of the Crispin Glover rabbit hole. I don't remember how, probably by following one of the innumerable crumbs Twin Peaks radiates like a Black Hole Sun (another enormous Rabbit Hole). Actually, I just remembered. It was following the Michael Jackson rabbit hole. Turns out Crispin “covered” MJ’s song “Ben” and turned it into something strange. He accompanied it with a music video that he directed.

Then I discovered Mr. Glover wrote an essay, more of a poem really, about an experimental film he’d directed entitled “What Is It?” (2005). I have not YET seen the film. You bet I will. Regardless, the essay is, appropriately called “What Is It? (An essay concerning the subtext of the film by the same title) by Crispin Hellion Glover”.

Maybe at one point this essay was easier to find on the internet and more people were discussing it. Maybe it’s never been particularly easy to find, as it’s an oddity by an odd man who just happens to Hollywood Star (though, he’s certainly went about his career choices in a peculiar way… Very non-traditional. Hrm…).
