Interesting never heard about the Chandler family before
Same. Nice dig OP.
Not even Ray Chandler?
Or Chandler Bing?
That's the comment I came looking for.
That's why the DS watched Friends. You don't think the ratings were so high because of the quality comedy writing and impeccable acting, did you? ?
You know what's weird, when you look at the Chandlers (Otis, Harry, Rachel) they all have very distinct facial features. The actor Matthew Perry has those Chandler-face features.
Otis Chandler (grandson of Harry Chandler who built Los Angeles):

The great grandson of Harry Chandler (the race car driver one):

One of the great-great grandson's of Harry Chandler (who is named Otis Chandler and he founded the website Goodreads):

Now look at Matthew Perry:

I feel like he has a lot of the Chandler face and I wonder if his name on Friends was more than just comms. I wonder if they were outright throwing it in people's face that he was from the Chandler line (maybe an illegitimate kid?).
Just a suspicion.
Wow, he reallly looks similar to Otis Chandler
Holy cow. The square forehead and down-sloped eyes do seem to match
I grew up in LA and only ever heard their name in passing and really couldn't name any specific about who and what they were. Before clicking this link I was scouring my brain for the Chandler name and came up empty.
What I think of is the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion - Academy Awards have been held there a number of times. But I never knew who Dorothy Chandler was.
Same. I remember the O'Malleys cause I was a dodger fan. Looking back we never really knew about how the sausage gets made in LA.
LA Confidential was right. People like to pretend that Chicago style corruption didn't exist in LA but in reality, is it even worse in LA.
I really would love nothing more than to Make California Golden Again!
