So, I press him:
ME: "You KNOW how into astronomy I am"
DAD: "Well yes, you have been your whole life"
ME: "Right. How much do YOU know about it?"
DAD: "Well, you know I don't know any really. always been your thing you did yourself"
ME: "Right. So if I told you a bunch of stuff about Jupiter or Saturn, would that be a conspiracy theory because it would be information you, personally, don't know, but I do?"
Stoned him cold. He didn't like it, but he knew I was right. He's very smart, but very indoctrinated smart. Didn't believe they injected 600,000 blacks with syphilis until he read it for himself.
Maybe it comes down to not wanting to face the possibility that those we've trusted have lied to us.
Last night I watched a testimony from someone who was trafficked in the porn industry. She named names, megachurch pastor names. One of them caught me in a mini cognitive dissonance moment. Now I'm not sold one way or another, but it was an interesting reminder of what normies are facing these days.
This is a very spot on take, I heard a couple names that didnt make sense to me....agree with not being sold either way JUST yet, but Imagine hearing bad stuff about people that you idolize or trust , it can feel like an attack on you to some people...so they choose to deny

Rick Warren, for one. Another pastor mentioned was Greg Laurie whom I'd only heard about in name before. Then the usual suspects like Hanks were mentioned, but who's shocked by that one at this point, kek.

I've lived in japan for many years so when I visited Australia a couple of years ago, it was interesting to speak English with others. There was a motel I was staying at that was a part RV park. This old boomer man with a fantastic dog asked me what I felt about Trump, being an American. He said he felt that Trump is an idiot, so I challenged him on it. Started talking about fulfilling JFK's goals, etc. Through the conversation, I found out that he knew that NASA was founded by an ex-Nazi scientist. It even says so on their homepage. I told him that there are people who do not know this, and that they would not believe him if he told them because it sounds weird. Maybe even accuse him of being a "crazy conspiracy theorist." But he agreed that it is the other person's ignorance that is the problem, not his knowledge. In the end, I just encouraged him to research for himself and to not believe the TV.
I encountered this attitude a bit in my short week in Australia, but FWIW, it seems that Sky News there is pretty based. Or at least some people on that channel are.
This is actually a topic my dad and I visit a bit. His dad was in WW2, so my dad has like every book ever written on the subject. He's my go to for WW2 info stuff.
So, he's fully aware of Paperclip. He totally recognizes just how close Germany was to winning. 100% trusts NASA though. Refuses to believe there's anything wrong with this, former Nazi's now working for the USA. Pretty much, once brought over, all these scientists and engineers miraculously abandoned their Nazi ways and thinking because they're "American" now.
100% knows a LOT of Nazi's got away and fled to South America.
Can't explain why Mengle was never found.
Totally believes Hitler was the only burnt complete body in a bunker with 12 other bodies, not one iota hint of a fire in the bunker.
Totally believes there is NO WAY Hitler and his elites escaped, even though he knows and admits Hitlers' 2 most trusted officers were found in South America.
I ask : Dad, look at what these guys did. Look at the tech, look at the way they did what they did. Do you REALLY believe guys like this had NO back up plan if things went to shit?

I cited an IW article almost 20 years ago, when I had just discovered IW, and my dad exploded on me how IW wasn't a credible source. To this day, I don't know why the otherwise aloof man (on this issue) had knowledge of IW/AJ. I have to assume there were internal work communiques on IW/AJ to thwart the narrative.
Start with 9/11 and possibly Loose Change docu's. Once people can wrap their minds around govt, military, corp execs had their part in killing of its own citizens and that it could be hidden from complete disclosure due to all being compartmentalized, then they can start to wake up to lifetimes of lies.
Then remind him of JFK. He was probably alive during another one of these World changing "conspiracies"
