I've lived in japan for many years so when I visited Australia a couple of years ago, it was interesting to speak English with others. There was a motel I was staying at that was a part RV park. This old boomer man with a fantastic dog asked me what I felt about Trump, being an American. He said he felt that Trump is an idiot, so I challenged him on it. Started talking about fulfilling JFK's goals, etc. Through the conversation, I found out that he knew that NASA was founded by an ex-Nazi scientist. It even says so on their homepage. I told him that there are people who do not know this, and that they would not believe him if he told them because it sounds weird. Maybe even accuse him of being a "crazy conspiracy theorist." But he agreed that it is the other person's ignorance that is the problem, not his knowledge. In the end, I just encouraged him to research for himself and to not believe the TV.
I encountered this attitude a bit in my short week in Australia, but FWIW, it seems that Sky News there is pretty based. Or at least some people on that channel are.
