The Dead Sea scrolls verify the accuracy of the biblical text that is still preserved to this day. That means that the text I hold in my hand is accurate therefore your claims of alteration are null and void. Now there has been slight differences through the translation into other languages but with further study into the original words used you can gain the original contest and depth of meaning.
Who told you that is true? Did you read the scrolls yourself? Do you know Hebrew and Greek? Did you translate them? Which version of the Bible do they verify as being exactly accurate?
All Biblical translations make minor modifications. In each sect you can find variation in belief in no small part depending on which is the most common translation that sect uses predominantly. Were the Dead Sea Scrolls a work that substantiated a reasonable similarity with the current Bible? According to documentation yes and no, though I have not translated the actual scrolls myself to corroborate. But that does not in any way change anything I have said. In fact, to a large extent the Dead Sea Scrolls substantiate what I have said.
The DSS that are also found in the Bible are from the Torah. So really it substantiates the Torah, except of course that there are all kinds of extra books and stories in there that have been changed in the current version. What happened to the Book of Jubilees not included in Genesis? Why was the Book of Giants/Book of Enoch left out completely? Why is the Apocryphan not included in the Bible in its entirety? Does this story of Noah and his children not deserve a part there? Is its removal not exactly proof of editing of a larger text?
What about the Book of Mysteries?
Here are two translations of the same passage to show that even among translators, to suggest that the Bible is the exact same as the DSS is utterly ludicrous. One is from here, and one is from the first link above.
This shall be the sign that this shall come to pass : when the sources of evil are shut up and wickedness is banished in the presence of righteousness, as darkness in the presence of light, or as smoke vanishes and is no more, in the same way wickedness will vanish forever and righteousness will be manifest like the sun. The world will be made firm and all the adherents of the secrets of sin shall be no more. True knowledge shall fill the world and there will never be any more folly. This is all ready to happen, it is a true oracle, and by this it shall be known to you that it cannot be averted.
And this shall be the sign for you that these things shall come to
pass. When the breed of iniquity is shut up, wickedness shall then be
banished by righteousness as darkness is banished by the light. As
smoke clears and is no more, so shall wickedness perish for ever and
righteousness be revealed like a sun governing the world. All who
cleave to the mysteries of sin shall be no more; knowledge shall fill the
world and folly shall exist no longer.
This word shall surely come to pass; this prophecy is true. And by
this may it be known to you that it shall not be taken back
Just in the very beginning it says:
"when the sources of evil are shut up"
v.
"when the breed of iniquity is shut up"
Sources of evil could be anything. Breed of iniquity sounds like a specific group of people.
Regardless, does this not sound like a prophecy of The Great Awakening to you? It sounds like what is happening to me. Why was this left out of the Bible?
What about the New Jerusalem story? Is that not probably a very important thing to include? Some of it seems to have been rolled up into Revelations (possibly denying a John the Apostle authorship), but I would think that any true biblical scholar would appreciate that there is more to this prophecy than we have been told.
Where in the Dead Sea Scrolls are the texts of Jesus? Oh, that's right. Even though some texts are dated past his death (maybe), there isn't a smidge of a mention of him.
The truth is there is more that was left out of the Bible and is in the Dead Sea Scrolls (DSS) than is verified in any way by them. While some DSS are similar to current texts (largely in the Pentateuch, with a fair bit possibly edited out), they are otherwise almost completely different than the Bible we have today. Not to mention that the vast majority of the DSS didn't make it into the Old Testament at all.
And the OT is really just a Book of Laws (Torah). Why did the Book Of Laws not include all the other Books Of Law that were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls?
The DSS provide more questions than answers with regards to Biblical accuracy. Whatever you have been told about them, I recommend actually reading them or at least a translation of them (all of them) before spouting off how amazingly precise they are to the current Bible (nothing could be further from the truth in the scope of the whole Bible).
So, basically, instead of praying and asking for a SPIRITUAL change that you can use, feel, and find peace in, YOU decided to use your physical brain to deny any spiritual reality? Ask God to reveal himself and He will. Scared? Maybe you're more than flesh and bones? You'll never know if you don't try to learn SPIRITUALLY. Pray.
YOU decided to use your physical brain to deny any spiritual reality?
Jump to conclusions much? That is quite a leap from; my statements of "I investigate things and don't close my mind to the evidence" to your assumption of "deny any spiritual reality".
I have denied nothing. I have presented evidence of a deeper truth about a book. If you believe that holding onto your beliefs is more important than looking at evidence, or debating a topic, then you are in good company. Every Branch Covidian does the exact same thing.
Ask God to reveal himself and He will. Scared?
I am afraid of nothing. In fact, I have studied religion for decades, at all levels, with much meditation and/or prayer depending on which period in my life. I have spent years experiencing a deeper, more spiritual communion with "what is", and continue to do so.
Maybe you're more than flesh and bones?
Maybe I am. My mind is certainly open to the possibility. I have seen some evidence that it is so, and I am constantly on the lookout for more such evidence. As I said, I have spent decades of my life looking for such evidence, following both physical and spiritual avenues of exploration.
Assume less about the presenter of evidence, when attempting to discredit evidence you don't like. Present arguments against the evidence, not the presenter of it.
So therefore, my friend the question is. How can we put into a colllective work that is of a reasonable size that can be mass distributed but still give the entire and complete context of what the Holy Spirit wanted to impart on a mass scale. The Bible is just a starter pack hombre. It doesn’t say don’t look into these other books and scribes, those books are there for those who desire to seek them out, but the whole message and context of what the gospel is all about is summed up into those book that were chosen. It gives enough context to show the Old Testament and how it was a shadow of the New Testament and pointed to Christ through prophecy, and in fact shows us the verification of the New Testament through the Old Testament.
You have given me your statement of belief. You have provided no evidence to support it, but that does not mean I don't appreciate it. Just recognize it for what it is.
I am a person who investigates the truth. I do not believe I know it. Instead I am providing evidence and logic to support my assessment (not the same as belief, as it is infinitely mutable with new evidence).
You seem to be a person who believes they know the truth (forgive me if my assessment based on your statements is incorrect). I think you do not, but I know literally nothing, so maybe you are correct.
For me, I will continue to look for evidence. If you have any to provide please provide it. I do not consider, "I saw the Holy Spirit move someone" as meaningful evidence.
I fully understand where your coming from with the different versions being altered slightly. This is very real, but The Holy Spirit has been doing just fine with being able to show the truth to those who diligently seek it. Most of my heroes that have walked the walk have relied upon the tried and true King James Version of the Bible. The fruit and power of the Holy Spirit that has accompanied their ministries has told me all I need to know about the power and accuracy of that version. Do you know who George Whitfield was? Do you know about the original Great awakening that happened before the Revolution? Do you know about the red river meeting house? Do you know about the Asuza street revival? Do you know about a man named Reese Howell and his walk with the Holy Spirit? There are so many others that exhibit a spirit filled ministry. Following the thread of the outpourings of the Holy Spirit will lead you into the truths he has been revealing to the bride of Christ and the building upon those truths and revelations through the ages is what is building into a crescendo of the last days ecclesia.
Jesus said I am the “truth” the way and the life. Yes my friend I do know the truth. No evidence? your the one making a sales pitch buddy. I have studied the moves and outpouring of the spirit through the last 2 centuries and I have studied the tabernacle of Moses and how it points to the New Testament priesthood. Your ramblings are not cohesive and you suck and trying to sell a product. Every great lie is seeded in truth
I love how you do that to make yourself sound superior “How do you know what you know is the truth and how do you know they were telling you the truth”
how do you you retard! What if I told you that everything your saying is a lie from someone who wasn’t telling you the truth!
I do not. NO one does. That is my entire point. You seem to be reading things I am not saying, and not reading things I am. That may be my fault in my pattern of speech, but something is being lost in translation.
The Dead Sea scrolls verify the accuracy of the biblical text that is still preserved to this day. That means that the text I hold in my hand is accurate therefore your claims of alteration are null and void.
