Spirit, American and United having tons of cancellations. Claiming weather and staffing. I didnt hear of any terrible weather conditions that would cause 50% cancellations.
We recently heard of pilot deaths yet airlines are forcing employees to vax. I'm wondering if more pilots sick or died and being so other staff refusing the jab. Anyone have anything to add?
Had a flight to Cincinnati, they said the flight was delayed for 2 hours. After we finally get on the flight, they make us wait 2 hours before telling us that its delayed 14 more hours becuase they never had a pilot. Kicked everyone off the plane.
Been burned like that before, there has to be a better way to handle those situations other than pushing people around like cattle and pissing everyone off.
You notify them early and give them a chance to get another flight or stay and wait
Sons in pilot school, his professor called last year. There’s a two part issue. When they locked down last year, many airlines gave great incentives for early retirement and many pilots had no choice. Now, demand is back but not enough pilots. I would also assume, staff is not conforming to mandatory vax and it will reduce even more staff. Gonna see this trend in most businesses. My BF works in oil and gas and they can’t find people to hire. Many were laid off and don’t feel loyal to the huge companies that weren’t loyal to them. It’s a bigger middle finger than most people think to corporations.
Sometimes pain is a necessary form of communication
Tim pool, love or hate, spoke about this. Fuel shortage, flight attendants not wanting to comply with mandates, customers not interested in flying anywhere so low cabin count. I think it’s different factors.
The economy is in the shitter.
Blood clots whether its the deep vein thrombosis or other types are far more common in the pressurized environment of planes when there is also limited physical activity. Taking a clot shot is gonna be exponentially worse.
A previous story here - 4 UK pilots dropped dead in a single week.

Are there so many pilots certified and with the experience & hours at the helm of the big passenger planes that a bunch of them dying would make no difference? I doubt it, because otherwise why would they pay for all that training to sit around idle making no money with an oversupply of pilots?
Airlines mandating the vax are in big trouble.
Their own policies are killing them
Some airports are also claiming to be low on fuel and in danger of running out.
Trump proved that any claim of the US being low on petroleum products is necessarily a manufactured problem.
Might be a good idea to avoid those airlines in case of vaccine shedding.
Would also be a fun project to write to them and ask if they have procedures in place to prevent vaccine shedding by their employees that might make passengers sick.
United requiring all Employees to JAB! That's what my wife told me early this morning!
Do you think that might cause half of their cancellations?
YEP! They might even be using their Airlines to fly Border crosser's around!
Right! I didnt think that since I heard the military was transporting them.
Didn't I just hear a day or two ago, no vax no flying? I imagine a lot of flights got cancelled immediately.
Aren't airline companies subsidized by the federal government?
Maybe they are filling seats with illegal assholes airbusing them on our dime.
Speaking of mandatory vaxx as some are bringing up... I saw on the news this morning that United has instituted a mandatory vaxx policy for all employees and contractors, with vaxx proof due early Sept.
This will likely result in further staffing issues as a not insignificant percentage of their workforce is suddenly removed in the coming month. Be aware, fellow travelers!
This is true and no hassle with masks, I have seen many things in the West I would have otherwise not seen, lost of great ordinary people just going about their business.
True, but those of us on the east coast who want to travel out west and only have 2 weeks of vacation need to fly to save the days it takes to drive out and back. We're driving to Maine for this year's vacation, but the CA national parks are calling, and we need to be able to fly there. Maybe next year.
