If hundreds walk off the job, that's hundreds with no legal recourse. Never quit a job over a dispute, make them fire you. Making it their job to get rid of you also eats up their resources. Being fired instead of quitting also extends the process and makes it harder to find your replacement.
We still have bills to pay. You walk out you can't collect unemployment while you wait. Not like we're swimming in cash, I can sell some of my silver and stocks to get by for a while, but a lot have kids, spouse, mortgages and taxes, etc
