Yes. We never really gave the machines a thought until the 220 presidential election. Now we have become very suspicious of them (and they are expensive).
They could make the machines secure if they wanted to. Look at the nuclear ICBM system. It's ancient and isn't connected to the internet so it can't be hacked. These machines have wifi and can be easily accessed and manipulated, by design. Reminds me of a Chris Rock bit. "You really think they can't make a Cadillac where the bumper don't fall off?
