Sorry, English is not my native language. What does "drop" mean here? I understand that as they are retracting the ad, but from the comment with all the hearts below, it would seem like it means the opposite?
Drop = to release or to unload.
Ie/ "NRA dropped a bomb of an ad on their opponents."
Thanks. A bit confusing for me, though. We actually use the word "drop" in my language, and that means to stop doing something...
Drop can also mean that in english. Often the context determines which meaning.
But the context "NRA drops new add" seems very clear to me, and that is they published or intended to publish the ad, and then pulled it. Oh well, who am I to argue the meanings in a foreign language... :)
It's about context. "Company drops new ad for product" is different from "Company drops ad after complaints."
